It’s when the tough membrane (the tunica albuginea) surrounding the erectile bodies, which contain the high-pressure blood that make the penis erect (think of it like a super-strong inner tube that doesn’t stretch) rupture. This happens if the penis is fully hard and forced to bend abruptly during an unsuccessful insertion. (It doesn’t go in – it presses against the woman’s pubic bone, for instance, and the erect penis folds over, causing the tunica albuginea to suddenly become hyper-pressurized and burst.) It can leave the man with a serious deformity if not treated immediately by surgical repair.
