In the final part of his interview with David Byrne, Jerry Harrison, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth, Stephen finds out why people are dancing in the aisles at the 40th anniversary theatrical release of the band’s seminal concert film, “Stop Making Sense,” and Byrne weighs in on the meaning behind the film’s title. “Stop Making Sense” is in theaters now, and David Byrne’s new musical, “Here Lies Love,” is on Broadway.

Always been a fan and mostly of David Byrne. Can’t wait to hear their songs.
ReplySuch a tremendously creative band
ReplyI bet Tina and Chris would played , Jerry and David would be the holdouts.
ReplyI really enjoyed that 🙂
ReplyStop Making Sense is the longtime Republican anthem.
ReplyIs this a reference to Tom Tom Club?
ReplyI was working in a video rental store in VT. It was a Friday night and the crowd was on the younger side. We had a big screen TV where we’d play hit movies for the customers. This particular evening we popped “Stop Making Sense” into the VCR. All of the sudden, this innocent video store turned into what would later be called a “rave”. Hordes of people dancing and carrying on like it was a concert. We didn’t have the owner’s permission to do what we did, and the next day he was going to chew us out for it. But it was a small town, and word quickly spread about the fun time that was had. The following week business increased by 40%! Thank you Talking Heads!
ReplyAfter watching parts 1, 2 and 3… and I’m still in tears of joy and awe.
ReplyChris is such a diplomat.
ReplyMight need to check the movie listings…
ReplyI love them so much and love that Stephan loves them so much lol
ReplyIt is such a delight to see them interviewed as a band with everyone involved.
ReplyI used to work at a place that had a cassette player and a tape with the first two Talking Heads albums on it, one on each side. I played that tape over and over, countless times.
ReplyThey need to write and record an all new album as a “firestarter” for new bickering!
ReplyThat was their winning formula. Stick to your roots!
I agree with the tag line of Pet Cemetery – Sometimes Dead is Better.
ReplyThey have a great body of work and reputation – why throw that all away by trying to be the same band they once were and not hitting the mark.
David Byrne also created a production company, Luaka Bop, which recorded many foreign singers and bands, introducing them to American audiences. My favorite being Susana Baca from Peru.
Replylove these guys Thanks TH and late show!
