Likewise whenever the subject involves Islam there is an undercurrent of Islamophobia in Maher’s disproportionate criticism of Gaza. Actually it is not an undercurrent it is an overt bias from someone I would expect to be able to have a more nuanced view.
Maher constantly refers to the treatment of women in Gaza yet seems unaware of the fact that in the right wing orthodox community women are treated just as horribly, not to mention the homophobia that is as vehement and virulent as in the worst of Islamic theocracies. The views of this ultra right orthodox community are clearly supported by nearly 50% of the electorate. Hatred of Arabs is part and parcel. The “brown” Israelis Maher champions face all kinds of discrimination in Israeli society. Calling Hamas, that is out of touch with the wishes of the majority of Gazans, a Mafia is on the money, however it is equally true of Netenyahu’s gov’ts – his attempts to dodge corruption charges on par with Trump’s fake news criticisms as a way to try to subvert legal proceedings. For someone so attuned to the fraud that is Trump it is puzzling that Netenyahu merits a free pass.

Most of us, if not all citizens, on both sides just want to live side by side in peace. I also KNOW that I was born lucky because I was born in Indonesia (a predominantly Muslim country) and hit the jackpot as a Minang, a culture that puts women in the center of their culture because the culture claims to base everything on Qur’an (being a Muslim is a given in Minang culture just like how being a Catholic is in holding papacy office).
Which country has the angriest feminist women? Definitely NOT Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, because the women are happy here because their lives as women are awesome. For the most part of my life I never understood why the women in Bill’s country have that feminist movement. Indonesia has had female warriors since forever, Minangkabau is said to have been established by a woman, there has been female legislators in Indonesia since 1955, we have had female president and none of them was part of female movement, heck I never understood about the concept of glass ceiling because I doesn’t exist for me or any women around me. Men came pleading to me to take them as my team members and I have had female bosses since the very first time I worked.

I am NOT a feminist because the men around me are awesome (father, uncles, grand uncles, cousins, brothers, neighbors, teachers, professors, bosses, subordinates, friends, people on the street)… and through my personal experiences I develop a personal believe that men are God’s best creations who are created FOR the benefit of God’s favorites: Women. I believe that the universe is created by God FOR ME and inclusive in that universe are men who obviously naturally love doing good things that benefit women.
I am a former Country Head of a large Multi-National Company, currently a Ph.D student and own several businesses. I have led a team of more than 600 people, 97% of which were men. I also KNOW that I was born lucky because I was born in Indonesia (a predominantly Muslim country) and hit the jackpot as a Minang, a culture that puts women in the center of their culture because the culture claims to base everything on Qur’an (being a Muslim is a given in Minang culture just like how being a Catholic is in holding papacy office).
Which country has the angriest feminist women? Definitely NOT Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, because the women are happy here because their lives as women are awesome. For the most part of my life I never understood why the women in Bill’s country have that feminist movement. Indonesia has had female warriors since forever, Minangkabau is said to have been established by a woman, there has been female legislators in Indonesia since 1955, we have had female president and none of them was part of female movement. I never understood about the concept of glass ceiling because it doesn’t exist for me or any women around me. Men came pleading to me to take them as my team members and I have had female bosses since the very first time I worked.
Bill is obviously ignorant about Islam and he shamelessly spread false information in purpose, out of _uninformed_ hatred.
Bill has also repeatedly lied about having read Qur’an because I can prove that he hasn’t. His comments about Qur’an is just like an old grandma’s comment who claims to have read Harry Potter books and says that the books need to banned because they teach black magic.
