She’s smarter than Pelosi, far more articulate. She should be Speaker.

While I agree with Representative Lee’s comments on waiting for more than 3 days to make a decision. In its recent episode, “America After 9/11”, I believe that Frontline had it right when they said that Afghanistan was winnable; Congress just didn’t have the political courage to make it possible. This sentiment is also expressed in the ‘Afghanistan Papers,’ which details how if presidents grew a backbone regarding Afghanistan, the war could have been won in less than ten years after we started. We would’ve achieved a goal that was, in all intents and purposes, a noble one that we could have achieved in an earlier era. Comparing Afghanistan to Vietnam forgets that in Vietnam, the main problem was that we chose the wrong side out of fear of spreading global communism. Afghanistan was always winnable; Vietnam could never have been won.
I do, though, believe that in 2024 if Biden runs again and the GOP nominates anyone who isn’t Trump, Biden will lose due to the Afghanistan debacle. The Democrats, if they want to win in 2024, need to #1: nominate a moderate to keep the party together, many Democrats hate progressive ideas and progressive ideas have some major flaws in them, and #2: Not let Biden run.

Every time I hear trillions & trillions of dollars was spent, I think that was enough to make every American citizen a millionaire & still have money leftover.

An honorable and amazing woman, but she didn’t answer one of Bills questions: “what kind of group think are we engaging in today that twenty years later we’ll be looking back shaking our heads?

I think one of the lessons of 9/11 is not to lead overt and covert operations in other countries

I wrote opinion pieces for my university newspaper back then, and I opposed both wars, fighting both Republicans and Democrats. The “you’re either with us or against us” mentality was so bad that the College Republicans reported me to the FBI, and I had one evening where a black car with federal plates and heavily tented windows followed me as I drove in circles around the block to annoy them. I’m just glad voices like Barbara Lee weren’t silenced back then.

9/11, D-Day, Pearl Harbour, the Alamo, WW2 are things that will be remembered for the senseless loss of life, Covid 45 has killed more than all combined, if you include the Spanish Flu it is equal to all American Wars combined.

We should have done a better job of getting our friends out of the country, at the very least.
