ReplyThe vaccine is not a magic shield that stops the virus from entering your body. The job of a vaccine, in general, is to prepare your immune system for WHEN it encounters a live virus. With a vaccine, your body knows what to do before you start getting sick. In some cases, especially with the mRNA vaccines, the immune system is so well prepared that the virus does not even have a chance to multiply when it enters a host and this is one way it stops transmission.

ReplyThe covid shots do not meet the definition of “vaccine.” Even the manufacturers admit they do not prevent infection or transmission of covid. The 95% effective claim is not referring to prevention of infection or transmittion. It is only referring to reduction of symptoms, but even that is a lie. The actual rate of reduction is less than 1%. The 95% is the “relative rate of reduction” which is just a statistical manipulation for PR purposes!

ReplyIt’s not that “only” 4% were hospitalized, it’s that 4% of 330 million Americans is 13 million, and if “only” 5% die that works out to 650,000+ Americans. But now doctors are reporting long term side effects, because the virus travels through the blood system to every organ in our body including the brain. So think about it, the virus could do as much damage to Bill’s brain as all the drugs and alcohol he has used! And just because he got the virus again doesn’t mean the vaccine didn’t work, the vaccine helped his immune system identify and kill the virus quicker.

ReplyYou tested positive because the vaccine was developed for the original COVID-19 variant. It has since spread throughout the world and there are likely dozens of mutations and any number of them have altered enough to a point that the immune response to it will be blunted, with the possibility in extreme cases that the T-cells can bind to the mutated variant and not effectively destroy it. This is a problem of us not having enough people vaccinated quickly enough.

There are virology labs all across the world, and there are even stores of viruses that are no longer in the population because if they ever come back it’s needed for reserch and defense against the virus. However viruses jump from non human to human frequently, remember bird flu. We need active global cooperation to make sure we are dong the research, identifying dangerous viruses and getting vaccines against them. Much like we have just been doing. Thank you WHO. Thank you all the scientists who have bee working tirelessly in this field. It is much more likely we will cooperate better if we stop blaming each other. Its completely insane to say that ‘we don’t know’ so we can’t say its ‘not true’. By Bill’s argument people who are religious ought to have a right to shout their beliefs as loudly as they want, which Bill says they ought not have that right.
The issue is NOT the fact-value it is the cultural and social implications, especially on such really-really sketchy fuzzy speculation.
I imagine in an year or two or even four we will still be saying about the same thing we are now with no further new evidence, and perhaps even further evidence showing this faulty or at least unsupported. I think everyone getting fixated on and/or trying to back off of this are mistaken and will be shown to be foolish.

ReplyJust to mention: the (Pfizer and Moderna) vaccines are ~95% effective against the symptomatic disease. I don’t think there are data on how effective they are in preventing infection (including preventing asymptomatic infection). My bet is that they dramatically lower the viral load in those who are vaccinated but get infected, compared to those who got infected without being vaccinated.
