I know a millionaire who when they become an executive the company had them meet with an accountant to set them up with how to pay $0 in taxes.

To “help” the average tax payer you need to make rich people pay more, not help average people pay less. Taxes pay for roads, transport, schools, hospit… Oh wait this is America. Nevermind.

Class warfare is used exclusively by the wealthy, whether by mainstream “news” who do propaganda for them to maintain the status quo, or by bribing politicians to write laws that only benefit them. The wealthy would be really scared if the majority of the country actually fought back, because they know they’d lose by sheer numbers alone, and it is way overdue.

You can’t even write off the interest on your house unless it’s super high because you have a super expensive home (like a million dollar one, I think) … I was so excited about finally being able to write off interest on my taxes when I bought my home in 2017 … And that loop whole was closed to middle class homeowners in 2018 : ( … And for those of us with side hustles: You now have to include any money earned over like $500 … where it used to be like $5,000 or something like that … Social welfare for the rich, free enterprise for the poor.

I once wondered if the whole “rich people get more readily access to costly accountants that understand the complex tax system so these rich people get to save money from tax” was a way to create another group of people (accountants) whose income the government could tax….

My “favorite” part of this is how you have to be rich to avoid paying taxes. Yeah. That makes sense. (But fr make this make sense please!) Vote blue everybody!

I love their chemistry! … That accountants dry humor is endearing and harsh at the same time — and of course, Josh is just awesome … Those two need to do more money/finance/investing segments.

Does being dead on the inside count as a tax right off. Tax lawyer: No, if it did count nobody would pay taxes.

The art thing, as I understand it, is part of what contributes to such high prices. If you can buy art and hold it for a long time and convince people it is very valuable, you might get it appraised for an amount that is in practice much higher than you could sell it for. As a result, you might make more money just donating it to charity and writing off the full appraised value than you would selling it and paying tax on the proceeds.

Since nobody actually buys the work at that inflated price, there isn’t much incentive for the appraiser to hold back. Nobody can tell in retrospect whether it was “really worth” what the appraiser claimed.

“That’s why i don’t sleep very much”…. felt that to the core, when you’re doing something wrong, your conscience will keep you up. Money can’t buy peace.

Really appreciated the closing remark about how roads will be built if every one uses the loopholes. I don’t want to pay less taxes as much as I want the rich to pay more taxes.
