ReplyI can’t believe Stanford that makes a point of the historical origins of a word decided to exclude the word ‘Thug’.
Thug is the English sounding word from the Hindi language that referred to gang of professional thieves and assassins that actually existed.
I wonder if the Germans are upset when people call something ‘vandalism’ which traces its roots to the word the french used to describe the Vandal peoples and the damage they did to French art?
