ReplyThat’s a great answer from Conan, and also it’s true joking and having a good sense of humor helps a lot dealing with anxiety and negative thoughts. Also now that Argentina is open to turist even if Conan retire from the late show I really hope that he’ll do a “Conan travels” from Buenos Aires.

ReplyI dont think Conan’s advice is good. Contextualizing your own anxiety by thinking “everyone else feels the same” serves as an excuse and doesn’t actually help you improve your situation.
“Talk about it.” Everyone talks about their anxiety and mental illnesses all the time now. I don’t see much proof that it’s making people’s lives better. There’s also evidence that hyper-awareness of these things perpetuates them. This phenomenon has been observed with suicide, where discussions of suicide in mass media actually lead to higher suicide attempts.
The best advice is to try to do the same things you enjoyed before the pandemic. If you’re anxious about being in open spaces, there are only two choices: 1) don’t test your boundaries and hope this feeling naturally dissipates 2) put yourself into a challenging yet not scary situation, ideally one where the byproduct is experiencing something that you enjoy.
