No one gets sued like Ob Gyns ! That’s why their malpractice insurance is so high.

Says the man who doesn’t have to push, or grow an entire person for 10 months, or chance high-risk of complications/death in America. Why did you even ask a man?

So when are the 1%ers and GOP going to learn from the 12Step programs that you can’t CONTROL, PEOPLE, PLACES, and THINGS?

Fear is not the strongest emotion. Love will overcome fear. Firefighters, parents, caregivers engage in love to overcome fear as a matter of course.

How about because the US has the highest maternal mortality rate of any industrial nation.

Pregnancy IS a medical condition! And it DOES require treatment. Even midwives provide treatment.

Not listening to any man that doesn’t know what it actually feels like and will never know how it actually feels to have an actual human growing inside you. How is a man telling the people who are the ones that will be going through that whole experience they shouldn’t fear childbirth when this is something you can actually die from. Complications during pregnancy and childbirth is an actual thing. Yes, not every woman has this but a lot do. Sir please go sit down somewhere.

What is his point? Don’t pay attention to all the precautions? Just go into it with no preparation, expecting everything to be fine?

He seems to view any fear as negative instead of recognizing that there are things in life that should be legitimately feared so we approach it with the proper care and respect. What he seems to be advocating is reckless and harmful.

I mean, prior to the mid-20th century, death was a regular instance among those younger than middle age – today, even in a big city, if a child dies in an accident or from an illness, it often makes the news… people in the 21st century treat death among the young like an anomaly, when throughout human history it was merely been a fact of life. That has a powerful effect when a woman learns that death in childbirth is the sixth most common cause of death among women age 20-34. Now, it is ALSO true that death of a mother during childbirth is FAR rarer today (15 deaths per 100,000 births) compared to a century ago (600 deaths per 100,000 births), let alone 400 years ago (over 1.200 deaths per 100,000 births)…

In the 80s, it was injury or disease that brought you to the hospital. Guess what pregnancy was considered? 😊

I’m more afraid of the 18 yrs of unpaid labor, what a child would do to my career, medical costs, lack of government assistance, America’s horrendous maternal care comes pretty low on the list of all the awful rewards Americans give women for carrying children

I’ve never felt fear while being pregnant or when giving birth. This is BS.

Well, if it wasn’t for the nurses and doctors at the hospital, my baby would be motherless and my husband raising her alone.
It was dramatic and it is not wrong to make becoming mothers and fathers aware of risks so they can maybe prepare better.

Nah, the fear is all the money we gotta have in order to have a kid. A lot of us can’t afford it. It’s a luxury, the fear is just having one
