They remain loyal because he gets away with what they wish they could.
They live vicariously through him.
His supporters are just as awful as he is, and wish they could be him.
They have to no choice but to hold on, because they’ve reached the point of no return.
They’ve outted themselves as just as terrible as him, so they *need* him to win, to not face consquences.
If he’s truly loyal, why not take off his mask? …unless he’s scared of catching the rona
