ReplyThe actual war on Christmas was from Christians saying there’s nothing about it in the Bible so the fun parts of the holiday should be banned allowing everyone to focus on working so they can see if they make enough money because this is how to know if one is destined to get into heaven or not… They tried to force other Christians to stop celebrating but were rejected and felt like this was oppression so left Europe to go somewhere where religious freedoms could be done right: the colonies in America… Where people could be kicked out into the wilderness if they didn’t go along with the banning of Christmas celebrations. Hooray for Puritans, so many of their influences fester to this day, even if we have lost sight of the ‘Christian’ origins of the issues and weird beliefs that we can’t seem to shake off.
ReplyFun fact: “happy holidays” is a very old traditional greeting given by Christians, because “Merry Christmas” could not be reasonably said until sundown on December 24. Prior to that, it is not Christmas. The season of Christmas begins at sundown on Christmas Eve and lasts until Epiphany (January 6), traditionally wrapping up with Twelfth Night festivities. So the people demanding a “Merry Christmas” on November 29 are actually the wrong ones, at least in terms of the church calendar. But who ever expected Fox News to know what they’re talking about? They’re in the business of misleading people into wholly unnecessary controversies in order to generate ad revenue!
