Dear Stephen. You don’t say ‘AN’ if it’s a hard ‘H’. In olden days one would skip over the ‘H’ and say “An ‘istorian.”

i think if creativity is coming up with new ideas that are not just permutations of something already existing then very few people will ever be able to do that in their life. Of course, you and I are different, but look around, look at your coworkers or your neigbours. Aren’t they just pattern matching and permutating machines?. AI doesn’t have to be create to totally change the way we live. It doesn’t have to be truly intelligent, perfectly pretending to be intelligent is enough.

It’s amazing how paranoid some ppl are. Only ignorance fears intelligence.

Violence is NOT the only resolution of conflicts from the usual traditional issues of land and food. Negotiation .. and SECULAR education.

Dont know the man but the idea that we can just change stories is a little simplistic. Most people would rather fight over old stories than make new ones. That is why we havent made a new one everyone cam agree on.

Unfortunately, this man is not knowledgeable on AI whatsoever. Avoid his alarmist views at all costs.

“If conflicts are about the stories we believe, there is a chance… to just talk about it and perhaps change the story. And find a common story we can be happy with.”

OK, but he better not try to make Bran Stark the king.

I have to say, the quality of the actual Sapiens book, as a physical book, is top notch. Ive been working my way through it and I keep forgetting how thick and glossy the paper is.
