Good answer.
ReplyIf you want to be honest to the aliens about humans show them “Au hasard Balthazar”.
ReplyIt really depends on how intelligent this alien visitor truly is, but KOYAANISQATSI is one film that comes to mind.
ReplyHe’d never say this for obvious reasons but I immediately thought ET. The way the children love ET and the adults are frightened and respond with violence. Humanity in a nutshell.
ReplyHuman isn’t only love, passion and humour but also a deep sense of peace and belonging in nature.
ReplyMost people only can experience that getting sunburn and enjoying the waves, seagulls and the air at the beach maybe for a couple of days per year.
That’s why we are deeply driven and uncomfortable and depressed deep down
Koyaanisqatsi.
ReplyWhy are both these men on the Epstein flight logs???
ReplyI think the human reaction to extra-terrestrial arrival on Earth would be _entirely_ too nuanced to boil down into a _single_ movie.
ReplyWall-E
ReplyFunny. Had this discussion with a friend not long ago. I wanted to show Schindler’s List or La vita e bella.
ReplyO.o
Replyshow them the first Rocky…. that’ll give them a condensed snap-shot of human life…1. most people have aspirations which they will never get to fulfil unless theyre increadibly lucky fortunate (like rocky)… 2. People just want to love and be loved..(rocky & adrien) 3. Most of us are not rich (everyone in the movie) 4. we all have crazy family members and fights that usually stem from alcohol or deep seeded internal bitterness that we project onto those we should care about (Paulie)… 5. Rocky loses…like most of us do most of the time.
ReplyI’d almost ask them (the aliens) what they have been watching for the past 80 years. (see Galaxy Quest)
ReplyJohn Wick III
ReplyI love finding my family.
ReplyWhat’s so funny about this question?
ReplySaving Private Ryan to show the heroism of humanity and doing what is right against impossible odds. To show our worst side I would show them 12 Years a Slave or Son of Saul. Two very dark chapters in Human history.
ReplyWorst and best? How about _Don’t Look Up_ or _Fourth of July_? (Seriously, that IS a great question, one worthy of significant debate were one preparing for a ‘visitation.’)
