we don’t control what happens to us? okay, so if some dude runs at me with his fists up, I just have to accept a punch, cause… I can’t control what’s about to happen to me, that I’m gonna get punched… one could argue that ofc you’ll try and not get hit and that is the response… then I’ll like to know what the person is doing, that is trying to punch me… is he controlling what is happening or is he responding to something? and if there’s something he’s responding to, what is that thing doing? control or response? if you keep saying response, then there’s nothing in control… is that really your viewpoint of reality? everything is reacting to a reaction with nothing in control? if you think so, then… don’t you think that we have control in how we respond?
WE don’t control what happens, we only control our reactions… and accepting the resulst of our response – that is the biggest part of StoicismI learned that in Cub Scouts when I was 10. And we had 12 points in the Boy Scouts. Never needed religion after hat.

ReplyHapsburg looks alike in the house.
ReplySounds like someone who hasn’t had to survive trauma.
ReplyI was raised to be stoic. It requires critical thinking. No shooting from the hip. Think. Act. Be just. Curb your impulses
