New email shows how the Trump campaign instructed fake electors in Georgia to secretly infiltrate the state’s Capitol to cast electoral college votes. We’ve long understood that this was an effort – and it’s a continuing one – to subvert our democracy; that’s an understatement. The crisis is that the American voters aren’t able to do a lot abt it, at least in the short run. Despite plenty of selling out to corporate oligarchs among Dems, the party would be quite proactive in retooling our political system if it had a filibuster-free supermajority in Congress, so that the voting system would favor a fullout democracy. But with this razor thin edge they have in Congress, over a GOP that has attached itself fully to neo-Nazi groups, we’re in a standoff that looks something like the WWI trench wars. So, we have a fallible, cheatable system that caters to and is largely controlled by billionaires and corporate oligarchs. We can barely protect voting rights (thanks to right-wing puppet Justice Roberts who gutted the Voting Rights Act in 2013); we can’t stop public murder sprees by gun-toting psychos; we can’t suppress corruption, politicians taking kickbacks from corporate lobbyists; and now we can’t protect a woman’s right to choose. If we eliminated Gerrymandering, we could turn this game around to favor the nationwide majority of voters. But we CAN’T. Because Congress is gridlocked by fascists. What’s the solution?
ReplyWe’ve seen Democrats give compelling arguments and it all goes on death ears when Republican voters don’t care..These are the people that need to realize what’s going on and to stop blindly supporting trump and the gop b4 its to late.
