Our education system and how we start to process information as children is interesting. Even before school we enter things like churches and other social settings where we begin to learn about life from different groups of people. We are given so much information but we aren’t immediately put in a class to learn critical thinking skills to properly understand what we are learning. We probably should have a class teaching us to better communicate with everyone without causing anger and hurt amongst ourselves. To deescalate confrontations and be kind and friendly to everyone. We should be able to express different views without hostility in the conversation.

America, “world leader” of democracy, “upholder of human rights”, viewed globally, more or less, as a hypocrite, certainly more these days. America is like the little kid who puts his hands over his eyes and thinks no one can see him.

People are so angry right now because a country is committing an atrocious crime against humanity and when people criticize them they’re called antisemites.

Jihadis hate music; music is a “distraction” and the only music they want is prayers. Also, drawing is forbidden. It’s why Jihadis target concerts and celebrations. So yeah, artistic expression is under attack, especially since so many people are protesting in support of jihadis.

The reason for cancellation is that almost half the nominees withdrew because they disapproved of PEN’s reaction to world events – not because of violent threats.

He has a great point; it’s all just shouting matches, productive conversations and debates no longer lead to solutions. Just anger.

This man is on TV with his eye poked out. His eye was injured by a man attacking him for his opinions on religion. This man is so brave I cannot even fathom. Most people would hide themselves and disappear into the masses. He’s still to this day not afraid to go out in public and practice free speech. I admire him.

Attacking an author of a very famous book at every possible ways is not defending free speech… I meant attacking Prophet Muhammed who is the author of Quran…. 😀

Why are you so shy to speak out against the genocide taking place in Gaza? Is that a bridge too far even for Salman Rushdie?

Does anyone remember Obama chastising the far left in his own party for being a circular firing squad of self-righteousness? Now, we’re witnessing this mentality in both political parties to the point of condemning anyone who dares to listen to, talk to, or work with anyone with different points of view. It’s sad. Not only had it swept the nation. It’s sweeping the world.😢

I’m sorry Jon Stewart but freedom of speech doesn’t mean that people can’t get angry at you because of your terrible viewpoint.

The most hilarious thing I d heard is a music critic gives Taylor Swift a bad review and receives death threats? Really!
