There’s one thing Americans should be ashamed of, and it’s not the fact that the National Anthem is so not a bop. It’s our shitty attitude towards refugees! It’s time to peruse the Rwandan playbook for a lesson in treating refugees with empathy. #RwandaVision

African travel! Man, I’m jealous. Cheers Sam!
ReplyThat ETM is even more generous than you think – those refugees aren’t from neighbouring countries, they’re mostly from North Africa. Rwanda is a country where (beginning in 1994) about 700,000 refugees to returned the country… while about 2,000,000 people became refugees and fled. It is a very beautiful place with a very complicated history.
Thank you for not focussing on the genocide, there is more to Rwanda than this sad and complex period of 100 days!
ReplySure Sam your handlers accommodated the narrative that Tribal rivalries/wars are all over.
Hutus, the Tutsis, and others lesser tribes all work together.. Oh that happened–already DONE?
Umm…. reveling in the legacy of Paul Kagame?
Sam… that’s a MESS!
What clusterfuck of ignorance did you deep-dive into! before committing to put forth a story that was factually accurate?
It’s OK, few will remember.. I WILL, not even a blip on the radar of those you LONG to HELP build a better future for themselves, the children of those who wanted a cut long ago of selling human beings who didn’t matter to them. _except THOSE PEOPLE built wealth later for their Masters_
Sam. you’re evoking honest thoughts, so thanks you. I just wish I was one of the people you long to HELP was real.
I’m gonna have to delete this… it’s too unrelatable/honest
Words are evocative. In ignorance and delusion of history, only supporting narratives reveled in are fit for social institutions which are self-glorifying madness. I have no standing along people who PLAY AT BEING WHO THEY ARE, so they’ll get old and die, never realizing the harm they afflicted. There’s nothing to evoke in understanding, among people who live out their lives PRETENDING.
ReplyThe Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted.
ReplyI loved everything about this segment. Well presented, informative, and great quality videography and interviews. <3 Nice work.
ReplyThere’s someone watching this right now from a GOP ‘thinktank’ who’s pretty sure ‘Empathy’ is a ‘foreign word’. Guaranteed.
ReplyI appreciate you good comedian Samantha bee
