In Brazil, the politics of grievance has its limits. Here in the U.S., Donald Trump has proven it doesn’t.

ReplyMaybe the Brazilians weren’t lied to by their media, opposing party and entertainers like Maher but, oh….they’re all there same thing here. And anyone who claims to hold the truth in high esteem while giving Pencil Neck a platform to lie from isn’t serious about reality. How’s that Democrat Party you helped raise on BS doing with the Gaza propaganda, Bill? Wanna get a hint WHY they have no grasp of the world? Look in the mirror…

ReplyAmerica has the best congressional representatives that money can buy.
ReplyBill, if it’s so bad living in America and California is so much better and Trump really isn’t your guy, run for governor of California.
Newsom isn’t going to be there very much longer.
ReplyListen to your Comedy Guru – George Carlin… who wisely said almost 20 yrs ago… garbagein-garbageout… but mr Maher, (writing from your private jet,) you still claim how America ” is doing progress…?” Where might that progress be? In the streets of San Francisco (h..s..), in the health safety of the middle class Americans?
Oh.. I know….”freedom speech” advocates like Musk are doing great….same guys who fire their employees because they contradict their bosses in their opinions?.
The space billionaries who “fight” for having more babies in the west, but at the same time prohibit their employees to do homeoffice and force them to sleep in the factory….
I come from eastern Europe (left side of Russia) and Im starting getting worried. Not just from possibility of NATO falling apart and Russians ending on our doorssteps, but also because of possibility that Vivek might some day get a hold of this red button…
ReplyRachel Maddow covered the same thing this week. They seem to be on the same page
ReplyI am from Brazil and I can tell you, Bolsonaro and Trump are nothing alike… this is exactly why Trump will win 2023
ReplyPopular vote isn’t what it’s sold as, could end like hunger games…the real issues is lack of party diversity.
ReplyBill I really respect you but you pulled a slight of hand and it was deceitful. At 2:10 you compared Brazil’s people not supporting the “mob” that initiated an insurrection to Americans who still favor Trump, aiming to conflate that the people who support Trump also support an insurrection. Nice try. You should be ashamed of that. Someone as smart as you knows that a person could support Trump but also be against an insurrection on our capitol. That really detracts from your credibility. I consider you a relatively balanced and sane voice and I truly believe that voices like yours are desperately needed in today’s political climate, but that was low man. That was a desperate attempt to tar and feather sane, rational, balanced people who just so happen to support someone you despise politically. I expect better from you Bill. You’re better than that.
ReplyThe title of this video just shows how much Bill Maher doesn’t know what he’s talking about with the electoral college. The quote is literally “A REPUBLIC if you can keep it”
ReplyWriting team for the jokes is slipping
ReplyTrue
ReplyDemocrats are a threat to our Republic.
ReplyAs a Brazilian, I can tell you that what Maher says here is completely false. The Supreme Court *violated* the Constitution, and is acting like a dictatoship, censoring free speech, suspending both YouTube and bank accounts and sending the Feds to storm people’s houses to make illegal arrests. The country is actually more divided than ever. The reasonn why the SC blocked Bolsonaro from running for re-election is because he would win. The Left i n Brazil, just like in the U.S, doesn’t play fair, and will use whatever tricks i n the book to both seize and maintain power. The Left loves “democracy” when they are out of power and the opposition but when they are in power the first thing that they do is to destroy the institutions of democracy to perpetuate themselves in power. Look how in the U.S.A the libs were shocked when Trump got elected last time. Libs are rich, privileged people that usually live in coastal cities and have no idea what life is like to people that are struggling. They like to morally posture a lot about how they are opposed to inequality, racism, sexism, etc, but they live secluded lives of privilege where they try to avoid average people as much as possible.
ReplySadly, Bill is right from way down here. Yesterday was Australia Day. We do so many things badly, but we do so many things extremely well. I am a very proud Australian.
ReplyAnd I hope like hell that America really does try and get its s..t together. So many amazing people there. They just need to focus on the U in USA
Bill must be puking out this narrative extravaganza because Schiffty’s there.
ReplyThe american constitution was among the first attempts to draft a constitution for a democracy.
Of cause it is among the worse. Everyone learned from the US mistakes.
