“We’re kinda in this doom loop where the border is the symbol of everything, but obviously, in a kind of commonsensical way, the only way to approach this broader problem is to deal with every aspect of the system.” Jonathan Blitzer, New Yorker staff writer and author of “Everyone Who Is Gone Is Here,” discusses with Jon Stewart the political dynamics at play that are preventing comprehensive immigration reform from getting passed in the U.S. #DailyShow #JonStewart #JonathanBlitzer

ReplyThere was something called the Bracero program. Something to screen migrants for jobs in the US that Americans don’t want. It could even include a prohibition against naturalization for children born of these migrants in the US. The GOP would love that.
ReplyThe security aid bill includes $61 billion for Ukraine as it battles a Russian invasion, $14 billion for Israel in its war against Hamas and $4.83 billion to support partners in the Indo-Pacific, including Taiwan, and deter aggression by China. This is NOT border bill.

ReplyIf what’s happening at the southern border is invasion, the government should be allowed to use defense budget to hire extra immigration judges.
ReplyCome May or June, Biden’s going to have to tack. “The Republicans are keeping the border wide open, so here’s my executive solution.” He could use the one part of our government that congress never forgets to fund, which has been having a recruiting crisis, and make it a win-win. It may be more of a jibe, but only a sailor would notice the difference.
ReplyDurak Donnie’s solution to any complicated issue while campaigning is childish name calling and, “I alone can fix it!”
