Published on May 6, 2024

John Leguizamo joins Daily Show writer, Kat Radley, to explain the crucial role the Latino vote will play in the 2024 election. John breaks down why Spanglish ads from the Biden-Harris campaign are not enough to secure Latino support, how Trump and the GOP dominate with messaging, and how Democrats need to fund the inspiring grassroots organizations often led by female organizers. #dailyshow #johnleguizamo #podcasts https://podcasts.iheartradio.com/CBiNJ_Ft?sid=YT #DailyShow #Comedy

Cool.. you’re Latino and your gang is coming with it’s votes.. I don’t care. Read the US Constitution and be an American. I don’t care what color you are if you’re an American and a Hispanic American shouldn’t care about color either

Either you vote for someone who doesn’t understand you, won’t do anything for you, and can barely be bothered to fake caring about you for even thirty seconds, or you vote for someone who outright despises you and doesn’t care who knows it.

Sad thing is far more people on the right would advocate to send you all you Latinos “back” to mexico if they had the option. Despite being from cuba, dr , cuba etc

So vote for Trump then. See how he treats you. So sick of Biden having to be perfect, and the orange scumbag skates to a tie in the polls.

Look, I understand and appreciate the sentiment here. I really do. Democrats shouldn’t take anybody’s vote for granted…. but at the same time, when the ONLY other viable alternative is OPENLY HOSTILE to you, then do you really have the luxury of being picky? I’m just saying… always seems like the rules and standards for Democrats are so much higher, and it gets annoying… okay, yes, I agree, in an ideal world, the Democrats should be campaigning to everybody equally and you’re not wrong to call them out… but maybe we should put more of our focus on the fact that, oh I don’t know, the other party is running a guy who is facing 91 felony charges, and openly saying he wants to be a dictator, surround himself with yes-men, and begin mass deportations????

    Closed mouths wont get fed!
The American citizens have suffered greatly for decades
from all of the current problems developed by our past democracy.
Below is what America asked citizens to pay out.
What would you think of a president who would divide 1 Billion
for each of those years 23 Billion dollars in the bank accounts of every
    American born citizen.
You can not quit your current employment ever. Your worse job is now
your best job. There will be limits on spending and withdrawals.
We want America to continue to function but better.
    Thoughts?

    2001 $16 Billion
    2002 $19 Billion
    2003 $29 Billion
    2004 $33 Billion
    2005 $35 Billion
    2006 $37 Billion
    2007 $40 Billion
    2008 $47 Billion
    2009 $47 Billion
    2010 $48 Billion
    2011 $49 Billion
    2012 $50 Billion
    2013 $46 Billion
    2014 $44 Billion
    2015 $50 Billion
    2016 $50 Billion
    2017 $48 Billion
    2018 $48 Billion
    2019 $49 Billion
    2020 $52 Billion
    2021 $53 Billion
    2022 $70 Billion
    2023 $223.7 billion, an all-time high
nearly $61 billion on foreign aid, with half of that going to ten countries:
    Ukraine: $16.4 billion
    Israel: $3.3 billion
    Ethiopia: $1.95 billion
    Jordan: $1.65 billion
    Egypt: $1.43 billion
    Afghanistan: $1.19 billion
    Somalia: $1.13 billion
    Yemen: $1.05 billion
    Congo: $987 million
    Syria: $896 million

Well, I mean, if you _really_ want to cut down on surges in immigrants converging on our borders, try targeting the sources of instability in the countries they’re _running_ from. They’re not coming here because anything has changed _here._ They’re coming here because things have suddenly changed _there._ The places they have grown up have suddenly become unsafe. What are we doing about it? Are we even investigating?

As someone who had the chance to live for a while in Colombia bc off family reasons, i learned (even more after returning to the States) that the majority of Latinos are right-wing conservatives. However, they weren’t supposed to be like the MAGA crowd, and yet here we are, in every group of 10 Latinos there is one person who will vote for tRump and believes all the Right-wing propaganda. I don’t know what Telemundo and Univision are showing the populace, but maybe they should drop the news for a while and stick to their Telenovelas. And for imformation purposes, incase someone is wondering, no, Green Card carriers, let alone full on immigrants can’t vote. Otherwise, it wouldn’t just be 36 million Latino votes that number could be triple.

Ok. Far be it for me as a Jew-Irish mutt Gen Xer to claim the right to comment on this but I’m genuinely confused and open to correction, so here goes:

Are Latinos really a “bloc”? Are Dominicans in Washington Heights really voting the same way as Miami Cubans and Texas Mexicans and California Guatemalans? Some of them love the abortion restrictions because they’re Catholic while others are really hurting because of them; some of them are law-and-order types because they’re small business owners while others are prime targets for police brutality; some are tenants and some are landlords who obviously have very different ideas about why there’s a housing shortage; some are feeling the pain of climate change and environmental toxins in their communities while others team up with Republicans to fight regulations because it hurts their business. And I have no doubt that you will find a diversity of opinions about the war on drugs even within specific communities. So my question is, what makes the Latin vote a bloc? I know it’s not just the common language.

One more question: does anyone care to bust the myth that Latinos like Trump because they respond to alpha male energy? I see that come up a lot. Is there any truth to that or is that just an unfair stereotype?
