ReplyTime to replace abbots food safety department
ReplyThere are so many times this episode nearly got him to stop and just crack up laughing hahah XD
ReplyPersonally I would choose diarrhea 100 times out of 100. I HATE throwing up. BUT as a physician I can tell you that diarrhea is objectively more dangerous in terms of illness. Between diarrhea and vomiting, both are dehydrating and cause you to lose water, both cause electrolyte imbalance. But water loss from vomiting is generally water from inside the GI tract, meaning it hasnt yet been absorbed and entered circulation, same for most electrolytes and proteins. With diarrhea on the other hand, the water is being dumped from the bloodstream, into the colon and pooped out. Meaning the water loss is coming directly from circulation. So diarrhea is WAY more dehydrating, especially in children because their blood volume is a lot less.
Continued vomiting leads to H+ loss as hydrochloric acid from the stomach, and the cells have to rapidly produce more, so you can get slight hypochloremia and slightly basic blood ph (metaboloc alkalosis), but usually the kidneys compensate pretty fast by wasting bicarbonate into urine.
Diarrhea causes potassium and bicarbonate loss into the colon but it can be tricky to detect, because even though some eletrolyte levels are dropping, total water is also dropping so blood levels can appear less effected. One way is to look for slight increases in electrolytes not as effected by diarrhea such as sodium, we can often see is high (its really stayed the same, but water loss makes it more concentrated).
You are welcome!
Personally I would take ANY of them over being constipated!
ReplyThis show should be called: why USA isnt even close to being the greatest country on earth #mostbrainwashedpplonearth
ReplyDonald trumps super diapers would refute your diarrhea accusations
ReplyOne of the major problems in food safety is the lack of veterinarians. People seem to forget that veterinarians are trained and are responsible for public health and food safety. Because of low pay and lack of respect for vets, people either leave the occupation or do jot choose to become one. It is really mind blowing that no one talks about it in the public discourse when the subject of public health comes up.
ReplyYes John Oliver, wait a bit longer with the Gaza story. It’ll be way easier to blame Israel for the war once the Atrocities of the 7th of October are forgotten.
Replythats what you get with federal spending cuts…or when federal appropriations arent passed and the government resorts to CRs, it amounts to agency budget cuts across the board, especially in high inflation environments.
ReplyNot going to talk about how the fda gets it’s funding? How the big food company’s are 75-85% of their funding so why would that change? You know ever since I started down this path I have been noticing some “gaps” in your stories. You can’t fix a problem if you don’t even acknowledge the cause. The FDA doesn’t work for Americans, it works for the food industry. Now give this episode another shot.
ReplyThere is no way of credibly arguing that vomiting is preferable to diarrhoea.
ReplyYeah, billionaires give a shit about our lives. Welcome to AMERICA. They will KILL you, your children, your grandchildren, if they can slice 0.4$ off a pound. Morrell. Iowa feeds children into grain hoppers and whatever corn mines they suck at. Maybe find bean pickers from Lincoln Washington Roosevelt Jefferson high schools in my hometown. But this BILLION guy needs excising m
ReplyDidn’t seem like there is a lot of diversity in that team of interns.
Replyyou ever had a grilled Caesar wedge before? pretty good.
ReplyEven though Trump is a rich, white celebrity, he better end up in prison!
ReplyAnnie’s French dressings has the USDA stamp on it, not the FDA. https://youtu.be/Za45bT41sXg?si=hx2yZV8U4xoNAJ3S&t=640
ReplyTechnically plants scream in frequencies that we can’t hear when injured or dying so really if you’re a vegan or a carnivore all food dies screaming 😆😆😆
ReplyThis is the kind you thing I think about every time some diofolus complains about Big Government Regulation.
