ReplyCorrection of the correction: the San Diego Zoo has always had red pandas. And the SDZ apparently lost their giant pandas because China owns the entirety of the species. There is apparently no jus soli for animals, so if American zoos stop “renting” pandas from China, they have to give them back, even if they were born here.
