The irony of watching this on Youtube while bill ends it with: “remember to like and subscribe”
    Sums it up right there.

A lot of those members of congress who are responsible for making policies regarding tech are old and really have no clue whats going on. Half of them call tik tok tic tac.

The most dangerous thing to go through the mind of a young child in the United States these days is . . . a bull let. Meanwhile, in the only nation on the planet in which this remains the main threat to a young person’s existence, gum stores across the country will place signs in their windows tomorrow morning which read: _”O P E N”_ – j q t –

The cell phone and the internet did it! Wait, doesn’t that mean that guns do it too?

By this logic, shouldn’t they also be blaming gun manufacturers for mass shootings?

They didn’t say $270 was the cost of a ‘life.” Her rhetoric there mirrors Blackburns in its dishonest slant.

They never talk about the Apple Store and how in their App Store all the apps say ā€œin app purchasesā€ which means, battle passes, fake currency, 1000% difficulty increases with no foreseeable end, intentionally frustrating your children and then dangling in short dopamine hits to get ahead if they just pay money, but then they hit another paywall, and anotherā€¦ all the apps in Tim Appleā€™s App Store are that now. Thereā€™s no more games as we know it in that companies App Store. The advertisements in them are obscene most of the time and explicitly suggestive, and the false advertising to get you to begin to play the game in the first place, but once started show the game is nothing like advertised. Think hero wars, clash of clans, every single game on the App Store is the haves versus the have nots, and if you can afford to be the best player you can pay for that distinguishment, but if you canā€™t pay, then you are labeled as a bad player. Itā€™s subtle, but not really. Itā€™s class warfare. Apple owes billions back to every kid it took advantage of.

No one is required to use social media. NO ONE. And it has always been the PARENTS duty to raise their kids. Be parents. Lazy fools want to bubble wrap their kids and expect the world to bend to them. YOU BIRTHED IT, RAISE IT you lazy MF’ers!!

Ever report an inappropriate sexualized photo of a child to Facebook? “Doesn’t go against community standards.” Congress is actually bipartisan on this one.

Does anyone not care about the 1st Amendment. The children’s act violates it.

they don’t give a shit about anyone, all they care about is their wealth. Zuckerberg’s net worth rose 28 billion this morning in 5 hours, when Meta’s stock rose 20%. Yeah there’s no wealth problem in the u.s.

Simply put kids are just as capable of evil as adults are, and in many cases can be worse because the haven’t developed the same moral and critical faculties as adults. Childhood innocence is a MYTH and always has been. Children are pretty much exactly who they will be as adults. A person undergoing genuine change to their nature is a rare thing.

Social media is addictive, that’s all there is to it, and I don’t know how they’re going to change brain chemistry to fix this problem. Basically, this hearing was political theater, and nothing will change.
That $274 or whatever it was is _not_ the cost of the kid’s life, it’s the profit they expect to make over time. All companies do it, and they do it for all generations. Think about how insurance companies view us.
As for bullying, it’s been going on forever and kids, unfortunately, have been killing themselves because of it forever, just like adults have been killing themselves because they’re unhappy or sick, for all kinds of reasons.

Henry David Thoreau said “Do we ride the railroad or does the railroad ride us?”

“The modern technological advances that come to this world with newer and newer inventions, as well as those yet to come, make up a cyclone of ‘Great Illusion’ (Mahamaya). Be certain that you will be held captive by it. Who knows, to where, the one who is caught by this great cyclone, will be carried off? When the Saints see one who whose attention is taken up by these modern advances running here and there, struggling in his pursuits, they try their utmost to bring about an awakening of Self-Knowledge in him.”

    Siddharameshwar Maharaj (d. 1936)

Social media should not be allowed for children and parents need to pay closer attention to what their children are doing. They don’t need cell phones in the first place. We need land lines again so that we can be there to monitor the children’s phone activity.
