After getting absolutely torched by Ian Karmel, James dives into the news of the day: Phantom of the Opera closes its doors, Netflix can’t figure out live-streaming and the joys of carrying (but not reading) books that you take on vacation. ReplyPhantom of the Opera was my introduction to musicals as a kid. I remember a music teacher playing a couple of songs from it in our music class in sixth grade and having us singing one of the songs. I went home and promptly spent the evening picking out the melody of “The Phantom of the Opera” from memory on our keyboard at home. That was the beginning of me getting into music, which I later did for a living until recently. This musical shaped my life. I am so proud that it showed for 35 years on Broadway.
