A man should not be killed because he had a panic reaction. It could happen to anyone. Trevor hit the nail on the head when he said that every time this happens everyone immediately goes to their battle stations. They start trying to justify this that or the other thing and completely ignore the conversation that needs to be had. That is a product of the fear and anger people feel when they have a conversation these days. We can’t be afraid of the truth. Ignorance thrives in the dark.

that white guy who shot and killed black people in a church was treated like human being when he was arrested by this racist cops while black people are wrestled and killed for minor things that doesn’t need to be solved by a cop to begin with, as a South African it hurts to see people die because of having same skin color that i have. the world evolving, racism is all over the world but America is the worst because people are murdered because of their skin tone…

You just lost a long time fan Trevor. I’m disappointed in your response. I caught that middle finger as you said he was saying sir to the cops and the way you tried to omit facts. He broke the law by operating a vehicle while HEAVILY intoxicated. We’re lucky he was caught sleeping because he was so drunk and not driving on the road where he could have injured himself or killed innocent motorist. Just because he was black is no excuse. I agree that being drunk and driving is not a death sentence but that’s not why he was shot. He was shot because he took an officers weapon albeit non lethal but a weapon. The officer chasing him had a taser with prongs in him. If he let it go he loses his taser, if he stops they rip out of the flesh. In the instant he turned and fired those prongs at the officer, which could have hit his eyes or head and the electric discharge could have caused a coma, permanent eye or brain damage or death. He took deadly force against an officer. The shooting was justified. He should have worn the bracelets and took the charge. He’d be alive and out by the next morning. You’re opinion on this is just fueled by your need to please your black audience and feel connected as a black American. Unsubscribe and remove Trevor Noah.

They did the exact same thing they would have done if he was white. including the shooting. And if he was white, this wouldn’t even have made the news. Not even now

Meanwhile, cop drives and crashes with bottle in car and he is driven home.

Messy yeah, with all the murder blood. I get he ran, shot a taser sure. I also know the cops used lethal force when they knew the worst attack to them would be non lethal. It’s literally excessive force especially since if he didn’t die they would have caught him anyway to charge him for the DWI and the assault charges. Death isn’t warranted for either charge

George Floyd I can stand behind but this one I can’t. The excuse is that he was drunk but that’s not an excuses. The moment he decided to point the weapon around with the intent to fire was his mistake. Certain situations a taser in the hands of the wrong person can cause serious bodily harm or even death. I’m a black man and I know Brooks was wrong on this from the moment he decided to get to drunk and drive his car. Whoever let him drive or didn’t stop him from whatever party he was at is also responsible. No way I’m a letting my friend or family member leave that intoxicated. Let’s say the cops were nice and decided to take him home. What’s stopping him from doing it again and injuring himself or someone else the next time. Hence why the punishment comes after the crime which is to get arrested and charged with a DUI so you learn to never to do it again or you’re stopped from doing it again.

Please re evaluate all police, go over all complaints and all unnecessary situations the police create. So many loose their lives because of police can’t handle their job as a protective part of society. The police have no qualifications to handle any kind of person different from themselves. Not even close to the horrible acts done. My experience with the police has been delt with either they can’t help or they go out of their way to make things harder knowing they are breaking the law. Because of a personal opinion a cop decided I shouldnt have my kids, my car, and my phone. Just because he didn’t like my friend and wanted to help my ex husband take everything he could from me. The cops didn’t say it was illegal to enter a home/ apartment without permission from all residents. It was my ex husband and my room and my possessions. My kids weren’t in danger or being abused or neglected, but the police officers involved tried their hardest to provoke, or bully me into giving up. Way to many officers play to their own personal thoughts and opinions not the laws and actual right and wrong.

Without intention to offend anyone in “Black Lives Matter”. I continue to have to frame it as “Police Accountability” to my white uneducated brethren, who in butt hurt manner, assure us “All Lives Matter” (do these sound like the names of soap operas?). Some of us realize there is a problem. We want YOU to know what WE try to navigate. The same dumb ass resistance whether black, white or Asian.Anyone is a fool who says the “civil war” KKK or racism it espouses is ever dead. It will always be a timeless struggle against ignorance and until ignorance is dead racism is with us. Love ya, Trevor!

But did he deserve to die? I feel like some people in the Comments have missed the point. I am against people driving drunk too. Some of my relatives were hit by drunk drivers and luckily, although their car was totaled, they made it out alive. But should the driver have gotten shot for causing the accident? Should cops shoot people running away from them in the back? There has to be another way to handle these issues instead of justifying that someone deserved to die. I agree with Trevor that the solution is not to hurt someone to prevent someone else from being hurt. Police, like all people, need to not let anger and fear make their decisions. There are going to be people who make mistakes and do dumb things. However, we need to see all people as deserving to live and make our decisions out of compassion for all.

I have to disagree with you here. He was killed because he assaulted the officers with a taser, stole the taser and was running away. He contributed to the situation. I’m not saying that killing him was justified and there have to be better ways to de-escalate a situation, but it seems like you’re excusing his behavior and saying that he bears no blame for things getting out of control.

Mr. Noah, The reasons why all officers carry a gun while on patrol in the US is because, gangsters, criminals, bad people carry guns that they didn’t get legally and will shoot at an officer. Also they will ambush an officer by pretending they are drunk and passed out in a car, this is why officer carry a gun, you never know if the DUI stop, domestic violence call, simple battery, rape, child molestation, person with a knife, and what are you doing in the middle of the night at 1:30 am testing car doors encounter turns out to be a shooting where you need to defend your life or the life of others. He maybe drunk, but unless cops have X-ray vision, hey have no idea what they are about to encounter.

Shut the duck up. He got himself killed. He was a danger to the cops. All he had to do was follow directions. As soon as he became combative and grabbed that taser he had a deadly weapon.

    Reply
  • Michael Reese 7 months ago

Your leaving out the fact that he shot the taser which is considered a deadly weapon. He’s a drink driver. That’s why armed police are dealing with him. It’s a crime. 1 person does every hour from a drink driver. Being behind the wheel is a DUI.
