Deborah Caldwell-Stone, Director of the American Library Association’s Office for Intellectual Freedom and George M. Johnson, author of the widely challenged book “All Boys Aren’t Blue” join host Roy Wood Jr. to break down where these book bans are coming from, the political ideology behind them, and how these banned books can help young readers understand complex issues. #DailyShow #Podcast #BeyondTheScenes

Banning books is just another Fascist move to keep control of the narrative.

All republicans doing is propaganda. Manufacturing outrage and lies to create fear and push deception. The best way to counter this is to ensure people don’t vote for a party that uses duplicitous methods to gain votes like the republican party is. Be vigilant about right wing motivated funding and expose any companies or individuals that donate to the republican party’s lie farms.

Wait wait wait. The argument is this book isn’t appropriate for my kid to read because I say so. Therefore I will make it so no one else can read it. Yeah, party of small government for sure

Roy Wood, This is one of your best coverage ever. I never thought of reading Toni Morrison’s, Beloved as a horror, but, I think I can see that now.

Sadly Schools are not the places of education that the govt proclaims them to be.. They are the Foundation building blocks of the work force that the wealthy who own and control the planet need in order to maintain their hold on the dominance of the human population.. 8 am to 3 pm with three breaks inbetween kinda looks exactly like the work plave timings and schedules. They are preparing slaves for their cheap labour force.. In order to make sure that they get that cheap source of future labour they need to ensure that childen do not learn to think for themselves. They must not ever challenge what they are teaching. The children must not have independant thoughts because independant thought leads to children growing into independant adults and the most disruptive thing in this society that is forced upon us. They need to control the definitions of right and wrong. Right now wrong is right and right is wrong hence the mess we see in the world today.. Think for yourselves and teach your children yourselves if you want them to be more than extra parts in this machine called the world of the wealthy… Stop letting the tools of the wealthy that is known as the Govt dictate the futures of your children. Teach them to be entrepreneurs and not simply under paid ansd unappreciated employees/slaves who will build the dreams of the rich and teach them to build for themselves and their own children and their childrens children..

If someone tells me not to read a book, it’s the book I read next.

I’m just glad those “freedom-loving” people are focused on the important things in life. They’d probably ban a book by Ramana Maharshi.

I’ve seen on a social media post about where a librarian came back to one of these book banners telling them to read the book they want banned and do a report on its content as to why it should be banned. Surprise! No takers.

How ironic that this is the topic that’s being looked at now the timing couldn’t be any more perfect when the same guy who started doing this thing has now been guilty of moving a bunch of immigrants to Martha’s vineyard. Surely that’s not a coincidence

Now she just basically said what I was about to say that it goes against the First amendment. And I have been worried about how this will affect future media all together because right now it’s just books within the next few years you’re going to start hearing movies are being banned or TV shows so I think this thing needs to be sorted out from now before it gets out of hand
