With how things tend to go through our current political system, if it says
we “should” it may as well say we “won’t”. Good on the rest of the world,
    though.

I’m sure we’ll be fine. We just have to make it to 2063 when the Vulcans
make first contact with earth and give us the technology to fix all our
    problems.

Republicans are great at forcing political issues to the forefront of media
attention, just so everyone else, no matter their age realises what not to
    do.

Wohooo yeah!!! World leaders agreed they would tackle climate change to
save the world! This is awesome and unprecedented! They might have faltered
on their promises before with other agreements, like in Kyoto or Rio or
Brussels or virtually every other time they met to discuss this issue ever
since the 70s, but this time, they for sure are gonna pull through. I mean
they didn´t draft any enforceable or legally biding document that would
force nations to deter the burning of fossil fuels with high taxes or other
regulating measures, nor did they in any way settle how they were going to
tackle the relentless free market drive to burn environmentally hazardous
substances, but hey, they really promised that they would try this time,
    they really really promised. #WeDidIt#ThePlanetIsSafe

There’s nothing binding about this, either, so honestly I expect the next
president will forget about this immediately unless he/she was already
going to work on global warming.

Sorry, but the 2 degree Celsius target still means that developing
countries like us in the Philippines would still be in danger of worse and
more frequent storms and prolonged dry seasons. The climate deal let us
down. It should have been below 1.5 degrees.

  • Jade Brown 3 years ago

Yeah this deal is just a symbolic sign. They are NOT Legally binded to keep
    the deal.

What people don’t get is that we are not saving the planet. Planet will be
here billions of years later, life will emerge again, etc. It survived a
crash with a mars sized body, meteor barages and so on. We are saving
    ourselves.

The biggest emitter of greenhouse gas currently isn’t the burning of fossil
fuel, it’s tropical deforestation. Agriculture will have to change
dramatically if things are really going to turn around, particularly for
    palm oil..

I love how last year, when winter was super cold, global warming doubters
said “Where’s you’re GW now?” and the media responded with “That’s now how
it works, idiots!” But now that it’s warm out the media says “Look what
    global warning has done!”

The biggest problem is going to be plastic. We can make electric cars but a
material that is cheap lite an moldable is hard to find AND the biggest
problem are electronics sinve the cables need to be insulated.

Yay, less dependence on oil, But sadly the Sun is driving our climate not
human emissions so we’re just gonna have o learn that the hard way now…

The deal was better than expected but not good enough. It is simply a firm
ground to stand upon for when we take the real steps.

world leaders are happy cuz they won’t have to do anything but repeat how
‘historic’ the deal is: nothing is binding, oil subsidies aren’t being
reduced, clean energy initiatives won’t be getting more funding. fuck these
    hypocrites.

People need to face the fact that it’s too late. The effects of climate
change are already being seen around the world and will only continue to
get worse. More floods, more droughts, more forest fires, more pollution,
more severe storms. Add in more terrorist attacks and the world is gonna
continue to suck in 2016. Happy holidays.
