Why don’t instead of tracking people right? if they have a recommendation thing going on for users if they search up certain apps or so like for example if I constantly use a delivery app they might be like “here’s a recommendation for you” then show the apps that are food related or another delivery app or whatever instead of being like let’s track him. The conversations are important and we should do our best to make them possible without too much conflict. There are people trained in this kind of conflict resolution communication specifically. ReplyI think most people who complain about privacy and tracking don’t quite understand software development and/or how a business company works. In order for ANY company to stay in business, they must make money. Ads and user information are a big part of that revenue chunk in FB. They don’t sell hardware like Apple and they don’t sell workspace software like Google or Microsoft. I think the best way to deal with the privacy issue isn’t this opt-out vs opt-in thing, but rather regulate software companies at a federal level. Have all user information be grouped by tiers like ex. tier1, tier2, tier3. All companies and collect and sell Tier 1. All companies must have explicit and clear user authorization to sell and use Tier 2. No Tier 3 information can be collected or sold. Just as an example, I am open to more tiers and granularity, but this would be a better way about it. All companies who collect and sell must be audited on a regular basis.

Whitewashing! I often wonder if this has anything to do with American exceptionalism. They always claim to have the greatest nation, but that view doesn’t align with a lot of their history, so they prefer to ignore that history and the subsequent effects it is still having on society to this day, in order to maintain the illusion, that sense of greatness. True greatness comes from acknowledging the past, acknowledging that the country has problems and might not be all they thought/hoped it would be, and then striving to overcome these issues and become better. Greatness is not achieved by burying your head in the sand and ignoring the more “uncomfortable” issues (to put it very mildly and politely).

Africa has all of the resources and the human capital to be the next generation superpower. China is investing big in Africa because they can see the potential of the continent. Africa as it grows is going to need goods and a share of the global market.
Africa has the youngest population, and we need Africa Americans to start looking into the continent for all of its investment potentials. China has a plan to make itself whole again. China believed it has been humiliated and disrespected for over 100 years, now they have the means to flex its power and Taiwan is its next goal to make it whole again, are we going to fight the next war with China over Taiwan?
African Americans have a decision to make to fight the next war with China or fight for the African continent. Africa is calling us home to make it Great Again. Ghana has a plan to build a memorial for all of the Africans that were taken from its shore. All African Americans need to invest in this project because after 400 years we need to come home.

I grew up in California, but now live in Arkansas and the attitudes on racism are very different from one to the other. And don’t even ask about Mississippi. I lived there for two years too, and it’s the worst I’ve ever seen.

But my original point is that nuance and in depth analysis should be pursued in college. High school needs to broaden its basic survival skill curriculum

ReplyI remember being taught the civil war was about economics and states rights, not slavery. They pointed out the few Northerners that also had slaves. The KKK was openly active in this area in the 80’s so I knew it was BS. Thankfully my immigrant grandparents were very aware since they fled fascism in the 40’s. They went to great lengths to make sure I knew the truth and I have always been thankful for that.

Why would we avoid the racist parts of history?
It’s not even history.
These are live humans talking about today.
We could have 3 classes in racism.
The last one is how to avoid it in the future.
I think, and just my two cents… that the education system issues are the same as the Disney issues… people began trying to “change” the world by trying to write it out of history and education. IF you do not talk about something, it does not exist… so, racism isn’t real if it isn’t introduced in history. That didn’t work, so, like Disney, they tried something new… like now. So, I think, and I think we can find this in MANY U.S. related things, the new method is that if we tell everyone, scare them with it, they will change it. Of course, it began with the revisionist theory, that if we tell it one way, that is the way it was. The problem with education and history today is that there are too many sources of information, so, education cannot make things disappear or provide edited history to change the world, they have to tell the truth and find a new way to use information to control the population. Disney does the same thing, they have this innate sense of mortality, as if they can change the way the next generation thinks and that will keep them relevant. I don’t typically believe in conspiracy theories, and this surely sounds like one, but I think I am not far off on this.

ReplySo Slavery was NOT a central cause of the civil war. As with most wars, it was about economics. The north had to break he spine of the south, they were on a different system. Post-industrial revolution needed them all to be on the same page. The slavery issue was a sideshow.

ReplyThe statement made in this video about history is so true. As an Irish person, our very history and relationship with the British is taught very differently in history lessons in school. The kids in the UK are not taught about all the horrible things the British done to the Irish during the “Plantations” and the aftermath of such, i.e the “Famine”. Caused by the potatoes plague the native people of Ireland were left with no food, but all the time food was being exported from Ireland by the wealthy British planted land owners. All this time the natives are starving to death, but can’t have any of the food produced in their country. It verges on genocide.
