“A good DJ, okay? They’re going to be paying attention to the flow of the party. They’re going to be paying attention to beats per minute.” – Dulcé Sloan
“With a wedding band, there is an energy in the room that can’t be matched by just playing a song out in the dance hall.” – Josh Johnson

Support local musicians writing and playing music are two whole different skill sets, also wedding bands aren’t just a bunch of middle aged white dudes who know 20 songs just request songs before hand???

ReplyWedding bands! I love hold up! Keep ‘em coming!
ReplyYou need both. The band brings the excitement of the moment and the DJ takes everyone through to the big night.
ReplyWaiting for the animated version of this podcast 😂
ReplyDulce doesn’t know anything about bands who do weddings. Or that local house bands regularly fill out 3 hour sets and can know hundreds of songs. Or that there are available local wedding bands who are former Grammy winners. Or that you can request the band learn specific songs beforehand.
ReplyI looooooovvvvvveeeee live musicians. A lot of times, the cover band is fire. But a fierce deejay CAN set the party off. Everybody has to start somewhere. Local bands often open for huge acts, and wedding bands need to be able to do too forty, at least.

ReplyMy first non rap album was Justified too! I still know every word to every song. 😅
ReplyWhy not both?
ReplyI have never been to a wedding with a band. I also only know one DJ he does all the family events…my cousin. He plays everything because the family is huge and multigenerational….i do not know how the older generations tolerate the younger generations music but they do and they do not complain.
