I loved him so much in Boardwalk Empire, whether it was deliberate or not, I found him very believable to have come from Dutch parentage and being incredibly awkward in expressing himself in the English language. That near autistic dryness was fantastic.

Al Capone, in threatening demeanour clearly out to kill van Alden: “Are you succesful?” Van Alden “No.” Capone “Why?” van Alden “I get the feeling my boss doesn’t like me.”

    “Oh, I’d ‘kneel to Zod’…”

-My wife, just now, not realizing that was out loud.

Best Michael Shannon film is the 1997 film “The Ride”. Roger Ebert called it “Ingenious. If Quentin Tarantino made a Cheech and Chong movie.” Shannon plays a parking lot attendant who gets high with his two friends and they steal a car. Hijinks ensue. Should of won an Oscar.

“I’m more of a jazz man but… free tickets?”

    How could that possibly fail?

He’s brilliant in everything. Just watched him in the Nine Strangers shows where he’s on magic mushrooms in Nicole Kidman’s character’s wellness resort. He sings in the show too and he’s an amazing singer.
