The “protesters” in Minneapolis that knocked down the Columbus statue were actually indigenous elders.

We just need to add more information on these monuments, like “brought syphilis to America”, etc.

The way we heard it as kids, “In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. He hit a rock, and broke his cock, and pissed all over the crew.”

“The Lynching That Gave Us Columbus Day” 1891 11 Italian Americans lynched in the South led to Columbus Day. We might not need it now but it is good to remember why it became a holiday. https://medium.com/@nevaer1/the-lynching-that-gave-us-columbus-day-eb5179b01aca

Columbus gets such an undeserved bad rap. From somebody who has actually studied the voyages of Columbus, you should watch this video to better understand it as a short lesson about the subject: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEw8c6TmzGg&t=6s

Why do you have to replace a holiday? Why not just create a new one instead?

Columbus was such a colossal fuck up that Italy wouldn’t fund his endeavors he had to get flirty with the queen of Spain. I wouldn’t use him as an idol for Italian Americans.

Columbus discovered that there were millions of people already here. They discoverd it 100,000 years before him. He told them they were trespassing on Spain! It is now run by gangsters.

People seem to struggle with how the word “discovered” is used. At that time the Europeans (and probably the Asias nether) did not know about America. Therefore Columbus discovered it from their point of view. This history has been written by Europeans and for them he discovered the New World. Why is it so hard to understand that?
