ReplyI’m Native “american”. In my Nation it’s mostly the older generation convincing their kids and grandkids and younger relatives to take it by relating their experiences with Polio and Smallpox. Polio was taking down their relatives and friends when they were kids. They tell us when the vaccine finally came all the kids were lined up at school and one by one received the vaccine on a sugar cube. Some Native kids were still being stricken with Smallpox because that vaccine wasn’t readily available to them. They knew the horrors of diseases that could be prevented by vaccines and grew up with a way of thinking that even if you don’t trust the government you can trust the science of vaccines and that getting a vaccine to protect yourself but above all to protect those around you is paramount even in the face of the unknown.
