    I am the grandmother of a disabled young man. I feel like paying disabled is discrimination. A disabled workshop? In my day jobs like these were called “sweat shops.’I feel it is abusive..The attitude is “you should be grateful you even have a job.”

    The biggest issue is that you lose government disability benefits if you make too much. For reference, too much is MINIMUM WAGE at a full time job. So if they get rid of this they also need to change the cap on income benefits.

    It depends. If these people are receiving SSI or SSD then they Shouldn’t be able to work. If they can work like anyone else, if they can expect a self sufficient pay check, then they should give up their SSI or SSD. These programs are for those with “profound” disabilites. Without these sheltered workshops, their parents would have to stay home to take care of them. They need 24 hour care.
