ReplyI’m a Mexican living in Mexico city,here in Mexico we need an special id with our picture only for voting , that we get in the moment that we register , i know that we are very different countries,but in what world you can be a functional adult without id,to work ,go the bank ,be in a government program, how elections can be fair if one party controls the media,holliwood, academia, unions, news papers , big tech companies entertainment.

ReplyAs a Canadian, I don’t understand why the US makes it so impossible to vote. My polling station is 2 blocks from my house and I’m usually in and out in under 10 mins. That’s only slightly more inconvenient from when it was literally inside the lobby of my apartment building. I’m automatically registered and if I wasn’t, you can just show ID or a piece of mail to register on the spot. Voting is a sacred duty and it’s shameful it’s been hijacked in your country.

ReplyIt’s a mess on purpose. Every single person over 18 should vote. It should be just one day either. In washington we have mail in ballots.. and public places to mail them .. no problems other then remembering to fill it out

ReplyMeanwhile I could just go vote since I turned 18 (adulthood) with the ID I got at fifteen. Thats it, literally. The system is far from perfect. For instance getting a piece of paper that lets you vote anywhere outside of you city where your pernament adress is, is a bit of pain. The voting papers are mailed to your adress, one set per each person who can vote (is 18plus). There are one or more voting places per city, town, village depending on the size of it. Usually school. There are two voting days – always friday and saturday. It is not a rocket science. It is a basic constitutional right. Therefore anything that takes it away should be hightly illegal and should be stopped by your version of constitutional court (I believe it is the federal one?). It is very sad that those of us who remember totallitarian regime are so much more capable of recognising when the democratic principles get trown overboard.
Dear god, never stop throwing in those Canadian jokes. As a dual citizen living in Canada, feels so good to get the recognition and those inside jokes…!
