The Real Reason Workers Aren’t Running Back to Restaurant Jobs | The Daily Show

Restaurants struggle to re-staff post-pandemic, and while Republican pundits posit that more generous unemployment benefits are to blame, workers are taking a stand and demanding jobs that provide more than just enough pay – or often not enough pay – to make ends meet. #DailyShow #TrevorNoah #LivingWages

Remember that if the minimum wage had tracked with productivity since it was introduced in 1938, it would currently be approximately $24. If it had tracked with cost of living increases, it would be approximately $32.

See I thought a free market was based off of supply and demand. If the demand for employment outpaces the supply shouldn’t the employers be paying more instead of starving people into toiling at their jobs do you know begging for scraps or starving?

I made bank tending bar. $10 per hour plus tips. My tips on a usual night was $100 or more. For a 6 hour shift.

If your not making bank get a job that does.

I ran the numbers and disallowing profit percentage the cost of raising the wage to $15.00/hour at McDonald’s is $0.10 per big mac.

My favorite locally owned restaurant has had no serious problems. While I haven’t been there in awhile myself, I know they are still going strong because I use the Untappd app and so I am constantly getting notifications whenever they tap something new. Gosh, I wonder why they have no problem getting workers… Just kidding, we all know why.

People were able to find better jobs and think about what they want in life, because of UI or stimulus. Now imagine what a UBI would do. Automate the BS jobs and let people move onto meaningful work.

“Nobody wants to work anymore” more like “Nobody wants to work for a job that doesn’t pay them a living wage anymore.” To be paid minimum wage in the restaurant business is terrible. They deserve more than the minimum wage.

They want workers, the answer is easy. Pay more. If they really believe in capitalism, they should understand the basic concept of supply and demand. The demand for labor is high and suplly is low. That means costs increase. It is that simple.

Since Republicans and democrat krysten Sinema don’t support minimum wage. Then workers deserve to hold out for better pay, take all the time you need and shame on states that are taking away the $300. All this means less money added to local economy. It will force restaurants to finally pay better wages with benefits.

Lastly….. People have no idea what servers have to put up with from the public, my joke was always that I was a therapist. I’ve had people be so abusive to me, and you can’t do anything except take it because this is the United States. Restaurant workers and fast food workers should make way above minimum wage, nobody can even keep up anyway in this economy it’s crazy but also these people get shat on so much by the American public
