The number of white Brooklyn residents has increased over the years while Black residents have been displaced. Host Roy Wood Jr. sits down with Daily Show segment producer, Jordana Hemingway and urban planner and Pratt Institute professor, Ronald Shiffman to discuss how gentrification directly impacts the displacement of people and culture, the relationship between gentrification and policing, and how people moving into Brooklyn neighborhoods can be part of responsible change. #DailyShow #Comedy

I’m flabbergasted at the guy at 12:43 that is absolutely CLUELESS to the fact that everything he asked for was right there.

I am sorry I live in crown heights There are so many black homes here parents die left the home to the kids and the kids sell it for fast money by the Jewish lodge investors They build tall buildings taller than the house that used to be there And they put the apartments in certain real estate hands where black people do not know how to get access to those rentals

Not enough education is being put out there for young black people whose parents leave them with home to teach them how to manage that property or how to understand keeping that property is going to give you wealth over Sell in it And that is my problem the few homes that still exist a lot of young people are selling the home that parents left them for fast money moving down and then realizing that they can’t afford to maintain the down south livin so they wanna come back but they already so so they have to go

Banks have not given loans Banks are not helping to refinance And when you do get refinance they are not giving you the full quote on your property

i love this so much. im thinking it’s a lead generation magnet for the main show but it can’t be pulling all that much of a profit for a mass audience. how insightful and easy to absorb is this segment. really makes me feel like TDS cares about actually educating VS cracking jokes/rolling their eyes at the news. thanks you guys

This is an excellent conversation about gentrification. I posted it on my Facebook and shared it with a senator in Florida. Thank you, very educational.
