The CDC says that fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to wear masks outside unless they’re in a large group, but their new chart doesn’t make much sense. #DailyShow #TrevorNoah #Coronavirus

When did the CDC say masks make us less safe? I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a thing.
ReplyFor the most part the types of masks worn provides very minimal protection from the coronovirus. Still, it’s better than nothing at all. It’s more to slow the spread of the virus than prevention.
ReplyEven vaccinated and unmasked we can pass the virus to others who are not vaccinated and unmasked
ReplyWait, you guys used to put a mask outdoors?! Then it’s not so bad there!
ReplyIn France there are big demonstrations with no masks or social distancing. And yeah covid is raging!
Elevator
ReplyThey are the same people who put regulations on business, laws for people with themselves as exception. Hope people realise the problem regulation caused.
ReplyGoing to keep my mask on, even after 2 shots of vaccine. it has kept me healthy this whole year, no flu or cold or allergies. And there is peace of mind if there are some covid variants floating around me , I have some protection.
ReplyThis is sort of depressing, but the pandemic would have been over in just a month if everyone had just stayed home and or properly protected themselves. I’m not entirely clear on why the CDC would even attempt to open social gatherings back up; given the current amount of people who have Covid, mixed with numerous people with improper or absent spreading preventions, it just sounds like the perfect combination for a mutated strain of Covid. The CDC should just wait for the pandemic to actually be over. That way they can drastically decrease the chance of a 2nd wave and or mutated strain.
ReplyLol what happened to the variants?
Otumfour Kojo Agyemang
ReplyThe reason it’s still not safe for vaccinated people to go maskless is easy:
ReplyVaccinated people can still potentially transmit the virus even if the vaccine is protecting them from having symptoms, so if you’re around non-vaccinated people (and in public, you have to assume you are), you need to keep your mask on until we reach a “critical mass” percentage of vaccinated people.
Do I wear my CDC Vaccinated card around my neck like the special kid in school?
ReplyScorpion’s metal mask was actually his kidney guard… once he removes it, he fixes it there to avoid crotch shots.
ReplyIts funny to see how America has forgotten all lessons of Covid and the part where a person can still be a carrier. Go walk around, breathing in each other’s version of covid and lets see how soon a strain decides to form that re-infects. You guys really want an in-house made covid super virus dont you? #facepalm
ReplyTrevor is right about the rant. Scientists don’t know how to communicate with humans.
ReplyI’m vaccinated, yet will continue to wear my mask around other people because I trust masks more than this POS, confusing advice from the CDC… at least until all the conspiracy people wake up and get the shot or become immune through infection (or death – you’re immune then too, right?) I haven’t had a cold or even a sniffle in over a year and neither has my son, who is normally susceptible to the many waves of illness traveling through the elementary school system… not proof, but evidence to consider
ReplySo people with a vaccine don’t need a mask anymore. But how do you tell if someone got a vaccine? Just believe their word? Lol. I would rather play it safe around others by wearing a mask till this is dealt with.
ReplyWhat about the variants though, didn’t think vaccine was effective against them. Seems worrisome.
Replywere people really wearing masks outside?
ReplyYeah but on crowded trails where people walk, jog and bike how do you know they are actually vaccinated?
ReplyThey better not make it illegal to wear a mask after this because i dont trust people not to get me sick.
ReplyYou know can we just keep doing the six feet apart thing forever? I like my personal space.
ReplyTrevor…, are you calling Americans, Dumb????
ReplyThe underlying guidance has always been that you shouldn’t be anywhere but inside your own home if you’re unvaccinated. But, because we’ve been insistent on continuing life “as normal” with masks, the CDC is kinda stuck in the middle.
ReplyI mean, I can kind of understand where they’re coming from in wanting to give us incentives for vaccines. Air circulation outside is better than inside.
ReplyI got that you need to wear a mask if doing a “red” activity and “green” activities don’t require masks, but I can understand how the chart could be confusing if people don’t read it thoroughly.
I would appreciate people still wearing masks in stores until everyone has the chance to get fully vaccinated because we have a large number of anti-maskers here in Florida and I don’t know who is and isn’t vaccinated. Anti-maskers will just lie about being vaccinated, I’ve already had it happen.
ReplyI have to ask. Are they only creating these guidelines because the US vaccination program is losing steam?
ReplyHalf of the world wears masks in big cities just for general hygiene
ReplyI’d keep the mask on. The world is burning in more ways than one.
ReplyI’m quite happy that wearing a mask has also protected me from getting a cold, getting the flu, controlled my allergies, and of course protected me from getting corona. I’m not taking off my mask despite getting vaccinated because careless people and covid19 variants exist.
ReplyOn one hand, I’d love to be able to work out without a mask on. On the other hand, people are obviously disgusting petri dishes cuz I haven’t gotten so much as a sniffle since mask wearing became all the rage.
Replykeep masking to protect yourself from others and to signal that you’re not an anti-masker
ReplyIt works, but until everyone is vaccinated, you still need to follow covid19 regulations because unvaccinated people could produce mutated coronavirus which results in variants of the coronavirus that the vaccine wasnt prepared for.
Replythat is subzero not scorpion
ReplyThis is only so people vaccinate lol
ReplyI love you Trevor but this take is dumb af
ReplyAs a South African in America I truly felt the Adidas pants and Nike shoes comment ! Like what are you doing?? Stop! Why are you the way you are?!?!
ReplyThat rant was a perfect description of my emotions thanks.
ReplyKids still can’t get vaccinated; I’m not changing my habits because I don’t even trust vaccinated folks to act properly.
ReplyThe best way to get conservatives to want the vaccine is to tell them if they don’t take it then we’ll start sending all of our vaccines to India. They’ll take it just to keep dark skinned people from getting it.
ReplySorry but this time Trevor you are not reasonable. Of course the CDC is incoherent but it is extremely important not to stop regulations too early. There are simply not yet enough people vaccinated to create a herd immunity and until that point is reached masks are absolutely necessary to protect those who haven’t had the chance yet.
ReplyLooks like Trevor finally woke up to how ridiculous the CDC and some of their guidelines are. Just use common sense people. Welcome to the party Trevor!
ReplyI low key make faces and abuse inside mask.i like it
Replypersonally, i like wearing masks and have more reasons to not take it off than to take it off. what’s the big benefit of not wearing a mask in public? so strangers can stare at your face? pass.
Replyif anyone says anything to me about my continued masking, i’ll whip out another one and double mask
ReplyWell, it’s been the fastest creation, production and rollout of vaccines in history!
Which means ZERO TIME TRIALS… (I know that they’ve claimed it’s not important…)
Which is probably happening NOW….
And then there’s the variant factor:
A NEW ONE COULD POP UP ANY TIME, ANYWHERE!
Replyin hindi we say- “ye chutiya kaat rahe hai”
ReplyThrevor so confused about colors he is wearing a brown hoodie just a mix of all of the previous he was wearing.
ReplyMind blown. Even democrats are tired of the government forcing their rules on them… I’m in awe because I thought they’d shill for the government forever.
Replydisclaimer i wear my mask if have to and if requested. now i think this is hilarious considering before people of hollywood such as this guy and all left were always saying to listen to the scientists and telling people of the opposite opinion “when did they became doctors ” and now that the science is telling people its safe these same people are now telling you NOT to listen to the very science they been cramiing down your mind.
HAHA. AND NOW THEY AKNOWLEDGE MESSAGES ARENT CLEAR. alot of people have BEEN saying and were considered quacks.
so j guess now we will listen to these so called doctors who have their shows like this dude…
disclaimer he isnt a doctor of any sort.
cheesuz
ReplyI hate to admit it, but I am one of those guys who wears Adidas joggers with Nike shoes and a Nike hat. Smh lol
ReplyMask up
ReplyI love the headline: The CDC says
Instead of this one: The president says
ReplyTrevor, I have one question for you. Do you enjoy doing this?
ReplyPeople questioning the CDC. Really? Who tf is counting on the CDC for anything at this point?
ReplyThis is clearly a CDC attempt to get those who have avoided vaccination to vaccinate. The reason to keep masking is those vaccinated can still contract virus and spread live viruses to others (e.g. those not vaccinated), even tho they have no symptoms and will not themselves get sick.
ReplyIf you go indoors or near someone with the virus, and breathe in, then there is a risk that you will then breathe out near someone else who hasn’t been vaccinated or for whom it won’t be effective. So wear a mask unless you are sure you are around vaccinated people who have not engaged with anybody else and might make you that risk for others, like my kid.
ReplyI thought “vaccines” were suppose to “provide immunity against one or several diseases”. Not prevent death in the event of contracting (said) diseases. Therefore, these so called Covid Vaccines are actually NOT vaccines. That’s what the CDC should be ruling on instead of telling people to stop wear mask. Learn from other countries mistakes and keep your masks ON. If you DO, you’ll have the rest of your life to enjoy all the things you once did. If you DON’T you risk dying prematurely. Choose wisely.
ReplyThis episode was unnecessary Trevor! It almost is as confusing as the CDC guidelines you are mocking. Just tell people to get vaccinated and still wear masks! There are risks always. Do not confuse them by throwing stones at CDC.
ReplyWe were suppose to wear a mask while outside?!? Lol
Replyi think we should make a partied law about vaccines..what do yoj think trevor?
ReplyRidiculous. People will lie about being vaccinated
ReplyI will continue to mask and social distance
Reply4:56 you’re so close, Trevor…. Except I suspect you’re not, actually
ReplyThe issue is a public misunderstanding. The vaccines are 95% or whatever percent effective (depending the vaccine) at PREVENTING SEVERE COVID DISEASE. You can still get infected by SARS-CoV2 but the vaccines prevent you from basically dying/being hospitalized.
Reply“95% effective” means 1/20 people would still get covid even if vaccinated, and you want the CDC to tell people it’s totally fine to take any risks they want with those odds? At the same time, you think the only other option is saying the vaccine doesn’t work? You can stretch the truth for the sake of humor, but that “viral” rant is just straight up misunderstanding or misinterpreting basic science and math.
If you want coherent messaging, maybe start by putting out a coherent message yourselves. This was disappointing.
ReplyThis was the wrong thing to do.
ReplyMasks are used by the patriarchy to shut women down.
ReplyTrevor has lost one Molar
ReplyHere’s an Idea: YOU get the vaccine and YOU don’t have to worry if anyone else has it or not.
ReplyI think i really like the mask it prevent me from talking to people or interact unnecessary! ! And i like social distancing am an introvert who dislike people overly friendly who keep asking and having a “discussion” with me when deep down i just want them to leave me alone. I had the covid in august but i still act like i did not and wear a mask .
ReplyI think the PR and communications by the CDC and the government and other agencies has not been great. Even how they handled the J&J situation…you pull it for a week and then tell everyone it’s safe with no real data or research or things changed to the vaccine to restore people’s confidence in something after you completely freaked everyone out. They need to be doing a better job of marketing and communications on this, Joe could be doing more in my opinion. A lot of this is going to be propaganda but so is everything else. We don’t want to end up like India with a new strain. I will wear a mask when I am in public/crowded places because it’s the right thing to do even if I am fully vaccinated. You just never know – better to be safe than sorry imo.
ReplyOr, we could stop trying to rush this thing to be over because we’re bored of it.
ReplyANYONE with a normal BRAIN cell would say “KEEP WEARING MASK” for the next two years or more just to be sure everyone’s life is back to normal again.
ReplyEhh, antibodies have reduced affinity to the new variants!
ReplyMeanwhile in india we are being asked to wear mask even inside home.
ReplyI can run outside without a mask ? Tell that to my knees.
Replyway to paraphrase Rand Paul from three weeks ago, this wasn’t your best work
ReplyI will never go out without a mask ever again. People are disgusting, I can’t believe I’ve let them breathe on me all these years.
ReplyI never wore a mask when out walking or running. I had one in my pocket just in case, but 99% of the time there was plenty of space to step off the hiking trail or sidewalk and just wait for the other people to go by.
ReplyWe have already been eating indoor amd outdoor without a mask, walking and jogging and at the park without one, so I’m so confused
ReplyNice rant, hate wearing a mask. Never wore one outside (live in a rural area). Even in nursing homes, where all the residents and staff are vaccinated and we still have to wear masks.. Blows my mind
ReplyRemember when “denying the science” was for “conspiracy theorists”? Hypocrisy sure is entertaining.
ReplyThe reason vaccinated people need to wear masks is because we have not reached herd immunity yet. Past vaccines (for diseases other than COVID) may be less effective, but the fact that such a large percentage of the population is vaccinated means the virus does not spread even if someone does get it. If enough people choose to get vaccinated we can reach herd immunity and mask wearing will be less necessary or completely unnecessary.
ReplyThe CDC makes no sense. Their reputation has been ruined since Trump. I don’t trust them anymore.
ReplyI appreciate the viral rant. I think the graphic guidelines are trash, too. Make it simple, people!
Reply1:39 “CDC says …You can walk, run outside without a mask..even if you are not vaccinated.” No. CDC says it’s OK with members of your household.
ReplyStop being a leftist pusher!!!!!
ReplyMask up America – it costs nothing ! Leaders can declared success too soon. Best wishes from India.
ReplyCDC are idiots
ReplyBetter keep wearing that mask. There’s a new strain of COVID that’s resistant to antibodies and results in more severe illnesses. CDC is trash. Wear that mask!
ReplyI see the muppets on here who love wearing face nappies love being told how to live, when to live, how many people you can or can’t see, when to breath fresh air, how to eat and with whom, what to put in your body, etc. You people love living with a boot on their face, ey? Can’t think or decide for yourself how to live? You need to be watched over by a nanny?
ReplyI dont trust the CDC. Take one look at situation in India just because ppl let their guard down too soon,..and you will not go without mask.
ReplyEhm what is this message now? Bro keep wearing that mask as much as possible and get the vaccine too. Be as safe as possible.
ReplyTrevor keeping it 100 !!
ReplyHaha, how funny is this. Disagree with CDC when they do not follow your political agenda. And hate trump when he did the same.
ReplyIt didnt say it was not safe…it said least safe. If you’re going to do those activities anyways it’s still best to have a mask on.
ReplyLOL Never thought about hand shaking like that.
ReplyOkay I genuinely don’t understand why we have to keep wearing masks after we get vaccinated, if you don’t have covid you can’t give it to other ppl and if you are vaccinated you can’t get it
ReplyVariants? Hello!
ReplyI’m going to keep wearing a mask
Reply1: I don’t like people
2: I don’t have to fake a smile
3: I don’t have to smell others body odors
4: Haven’t had any problems with my allergies flaring and haven’t caught a cold or the flu all year
Wearing a mask is NECESSARY TO PROTECT OTHERS not just yourself.
ReplyThe advice to wear a mask, even if you are vaccinated, comes from the danger of infecting others still.
While the danger of getting the virus after being vaccinated is slim it is still not clear if you can infect others by spreading the virus without being ill yourself.
So until the virus is “under control” (as far as that is even possible) it is safer for everyone to get vaccinated AND wear a mask.
This is just gonna fuel all the Trump supporters that said once Biden is President covid will magically disappear.
ReplyI ain’t buyin insane Biden. The CDC is an ultra vires, criminal organization that should be disbanded & the Board of Directors, et al. wealth confiscated, imprisoned, then fed to G-d’s predators that know exactly what to do w/ them. G-d’s predators on land include wolves, bears, tigers, lions, snakes, et al. – in water sharks, piranhas, crocodiles, snakes will leave NOTHING behind. Save the world – capture & feed G-d’s predators as they are hungry & necessary.
ReplyScorpion takes off his mask like 4 times in one scene lol
ReplyAND GET YOUR SECOND SHOT!
ReplyIn the book of Revelation they say that the beast causeth all to receive a mark and that no one can buy or sell without the mark of the beast or the number of his name. This covid 19 could be 666 and Jesus Christ is returning sooner than we think.
ReplyStill wearing a mask. Completely vaccinated. I haven’t been sick with anything in a year… No colds, no flu, covid, nothing!
ReplyYour Viral rant is another way of saying we live under the influence of Evil doers!
ReplyIsn’t the whole purpose of wearing a mask not to infect others? Which you might still be able to do even if fully vaccinated?
ReplyI know that some immunocompromised people like me have been sick less due to masks. I will still wear my mask even if I am vaccinated.
ReplyNot everyone wants to take them off. For people who feel exposed on the internet and with cameras everywhere they go, the slightest anonymity from a mask feels safer. The distance created by zoom work, healthcare, education, and commerce feels safer. Some people dread the return of normal.
