Every night before the show Stephen takes a few questions from the audience. When the questions are “Lord Of The Rings” related, the answers are never particularly brief.

Damn, Stephen really is #1 knowledgeable guy when it comes to Tolkien’s
Universe. I’ve actually searched around and read only a tiny portion of the
Silmarillion. I could easily understand almost everything he spoke of,
however I didn’t know the exact details of the “gods” and all that. Would
really like to listen to him answering some more questions.
I reckon he’d like to talk more about that in the show but sadly none
understands even the slightest of what he’s saying.

I’ll have to disagree with Stephen on what he said about Sam being the best
character. I mean, I respect the decision, but his reasoning is all wrong.
He basically insult Frodo so that he could rise Sam above him. Sure, Frodo
couldn’t get rid of the ring, but he had the ring for almost 20 years. He
carried that burden for so long, the things he had to endure, and even then
    – with the help of Sam – he threw the ring. One of the reasons Gandalf
choose to leave the ring with Frodo is that he knew just how strong-willed
he is and that when the time comes he will do the right thing, something
not even the great kings of old have been able to do.

Oh my god! I love Stephen even so much more right now!
And I think it’s beautiful that he mentions Nienna, because she is often
forgotten next to Manwe, Varda, Ulmo etc. But her power is actually so
interesting and touching. And I think he’s right about Olórin being not
interested in becoming stronger compared to Mairon/Sauron or Saruman/Curumo
    that were schooled by Aule.

Ok, this became a Nerd-rant in itself now xD
