ReplyChange, whether on a personal or a societal level, only comes about when we experience enough personal or societal pain. Only then are we willing to put forth the effort. Front line workers experience the pain every day. The rest of us not so much. When the rest of us have to come to grips with the consequences, of our decisions, then change will be inevitable. In the meantime, ignorance becomes it’s own reward.

To be fair, unlike those protesters, those two nurses are getting paid, are able to provide for their families, and their future isn’t as uncertain as it is for many of those people protesting. Much more people recover from the covid-19 virus than die from it; that’s why other countries are reopening; and it will also help avoid decades of poverty and misery on the most vulnerable populations of the planet.
