If they don’t announce a release date today (or any good news actually), on
Saturday the 3rd, they will completely slaughter the hype.

This was a fantastic interview finally a late night host who actually asked
intelligent questions and was respectful of gamers.

  • Saurabh Sahoo 4 years ago

wow!!! nuclear specialist, youtube stars, app makers and now video game
makers… I never thought I would ever watch any show other than last week
tonight?? Stephen and Jon are my favourites!!!

  • mmmodafoca 4 years ago

I like where stephen goes with the show, but i can’t avoid feeling like he
is pandering to gamers out there. Don’t get me wrong i think this
Simulation/video game is fucking awesome and i’m glad he did the segment.
but the last thing i want is for colbert to do a “monday melee” that conan
does.. or go the other way around and attack gamers for ratings like Kimmel

Stephen, you should try and book Markiplier, would be great to showcase his
charity work. I’d say give him a few months, though, he’s taking some time
    right now.

  • Cody Crawford 4 years ago

Was surprised this interview happened, but I enjoyed it a lot. Colbert
didn’t belittle the gamer community whatsoever and made a real effort to
understand something he has little experience with. Kudos.

  • Amy Kazama 4 years ago

I’m not a huge fan of space games, but I definitely want to play this one.
    It looks so freaking epic.

  • Cik Bast 4 years ago

The game exists on Steam, and has a tremendous amount of more content
    already, plus it’s on sale.

Look it up….”Ascent”, a PvE sandbox mmowith 270,000,000,000 star systems
and an emphasis on sci-fi, ship building, exploration, planet and system
discover, starbase construction, research, mining, farming, construction,
    and completely organic; player-driven.

  • Dale Cadman 4 years ago

On behalf of all gamers we want you Stephen and everyone at the Late Show
to know how much it means to us to see you talking to game designers in
    this respectful and interesting fashion.
Games are rarely taken seriously by the mainstream media but we take this
hobby extremely seriously, its art, entertainment and everything in between
and sometimes it combines and surpasses all of these aspects.

  • dami8512 4 years ago

Stephen Colbert, such a cool guy :]

nice interview shame no release date.

  • Latent Soul 4 years ago

Gaming is the thing I always make sure I have time set away for every day.
That being said, I don’t understand the hype for this game, my guess is
it’s just people latching on to something with a group of other people to
fulfill a sense of meaning to one aspect of their life. If you really think
about it…your gonna get burnt out on this game within a day. Sure it’s
cool to see the various creatures and completely unfamiliar planets, but
there seems to be a considerable lack of motivation, objectives, and
interactivity within the game. That’s just my take.

However, I am keeping an open mind and waiting for the finished, realized
project. If anyone can tell me their reasoning for falling in love with
this game, please share. Maybe you’ll change my opinion. Thanks.

  • George Mason 4 years ago

OMG this game looks absolutely incredible. It’s sounds so crazy that I
doubt what the developer is saying about how it was made is actually true.
I have a feeling that most of the planets are exactly the same or are just
a mix of different programed ecological elements. Like the Molbert is
probably on say 1 out of every 10 planets… etc.

  • Michael W 4 years ago

Thank you for having a game developer on!
I swear, non-gamers are just people who don’t know any better. Give them

  • leo sky 4 years ago

To the ones wondering about what this game is ACTUALLY about, think of it
    as basically Minecraft in Space:
exploration and resource gathering, with maybe (they havent been to clear
on this) a P2P/PvP element, if you get around meeting someone, which will
be highly difficult since the universe is so vast, unless there’s some kind
    of teletransport/super-mega-hyper drive feature.
I’m really excited for this game, saw it at VGX and GDC and was hooked,
    let’s hope it’s not a Spore 2.0

love how he doesn’t look down on people involved in the game industry and
sees the significance of it technically.

No mans Sky and Fall Out need to fuse. Seriously. But I love Colbert even
more. Best late night talk show on TV for me. It’s mature, he brings a
variety of guest. He knows when to tear up a guest because what he’s saying
is kinda flawed ( like that Uber Ceo). He supports gamers. He’s funny, good
monologues. He also gets after the politicians and not just plays games
with them. He ask good questions. So much positives I can say. An excellent
    late night talk show.

  • Cornelius Maximillianus 4 years ago

Colbert loves science, in his old Colbert Report show he always invited big
names in Astrophysics such as Brian Cox, Brian Greene, DeGrasse Tyson. I
remember Conan was interviewing Prof. Brian Cox and he kept interrupting
him and made very dumb jokes and he would not let him speak.

  • Willian Gabriel 4 years ago

Wow. you did an interview with someone related to video gamin and treated
them with respect. That’s uncommon, bonus points.

  • Gabriel Rivera 4 years ago

I think a huge mistake they are making is isolating players. the game will
he dull and boring after a few hours of game play if you can’t play with
friends. there should at least be an option to invite someone to explore
the same galaxy with you. it just feels like they’re making such a huge
game with endless possibilities but they are limiting the players….

they’re all just the most down to earth people out there

What’s the point of a quantillion planets if they are just limited to the
    same types of environments?
grass/rock/ice/water/desertis what I’ve seen so far in demos.
If you can’t interact with the environment or the creatures, I fail to see
the fun in just walking around and observing once you’ve seen all the basic
    types of variation.
