Florida “Jesus People” may indeed be praying to the wrong “Jesus.” They have been praying to the “Jesus” that gives one jet airplanes and condos on Miami Beach and reinforces the resentment against one’s neighbors. When we were little kids in our little Bible School in the American Midwest; our religious teachers said that we were only to pray for knowledge of God’s Will and the power to carry that out. The results of doing other can be seen today in these “religious” individuals who have ostensibly entered into a bargaining arrangement with the spirit world for gain against their innocent neighbors. The Biblical New Testament states clearly just who represents this side of the spiritual world and the dangers of using these forces as allies against those they believe are their enemies. The COVID Pandemic has forced the hand of the many on the American Right who hold belief systems contrary to the U. S. Constitution and are actively engaged in forcing what they believe to be the “Kingdom of God” on the remainder of American citizens whilst constantly voicing the threat of Damnation directed towards all who would disagree with them all in the context of “Owning the Libs.”
