Recorded on 5/1/23. From Tucker Carlson to Dominion to Biden’s age, Roy Wood Jr. didn’t hold back at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. In this episode, he sits down with some of his writers for the correspondents’ dinner – Christiana Mbakwe-Medina, Felonious Munk, and David Angelo – to reflect on the writing process leading up to the dinner, why the Property Brothers threw a wrench in Roy’s speech, the Kanye joke that didn’t make it in, and which conservative is now a big fan of Roy.

Yes , thank you all !!!
ReplySupport the writers union strike. Edit: It was a great bit and he kicked out of the park.
ReplyThe best thing about these shows is that it really shows how much people like Roy or Jon care about the writers… Maybe that’s why Trevor never really got any of the funnier jokes.
ReplyGreat job Roy!
ReplyCorrespondents dinner was brilliant. Congrats to you and your team of writers.
ReplyAmazing job at the Correspondence Dinner!!! Hilarious! Way to go Jr and the writers! Thanks Jr for having the writers on the show, stay classy!
ReplyThank you and your writers for the humorous Whitehouse Correspondents Dinner.
ReplyReally enjoyed your correspondents dinner act! Especially the joke (or rather fact) that politicians promise things and then don’t do it. The silence in the crowd really was the cherry on the top of it, their silence was an awkward acknowledgement. Made it hilarious for me!
ReplyThe joke and commentary about school shoots was quite possibly the most vital thing he said. My daughter was on campus during the MSU rampage this year. I appreciate Roy and the writers addressing that more than words can convey.
ReplyWow, comedians breaking down the process are notoriously trash. This was great.
ReplyThe setup, construction and punchline to your NFT joke was brilliant. Also tying it with other hot-button acronyms (ie CRT) played really well in the overall effect of the performance.
You all did a masterful job with this WHCD. Thanks very much for sharing your process and insights.
ReplyI imagine it is strange for a major comedian to be performing for and audience that didn’t show up for the purpose of seeing them.
ReplyI really look forward to these Roy x beyond the scenes episodes.
