Ringo DID leave the band during the White Album and listen to how awesome Paul is on drums during Dear Prudence. He’s not Ringo, but those fills filling almost entire verse during Dear Prudence is not a Ringo thing to do, but they’re awesome. Don’t forget that the drummer on Band on the Run (the entire album) is Paul.

Wow, talk about synchronicity – when The Beatles went to Sweden and Ed Sullivan happened to be there, It’s a small tidbit, but it still amazes me. Destiny. Coincidence. They shook the world when they exploded – it’s hard to explain to generations born after Beatlemania. Nothing can ever compare to it again – Managers/producers try to duplicate it, but they can’t – not that kind of thunder. I was four years old when they came on Ed Sullivan – I was a fan then and remember that day. I remember how excited I was. They were my first crush – and my favorite was Ringo.

First of all, he is a worldwide treasure. In an age where people are being nasty left and right, this guy is positivity personified. Second, the guy is 80 years old for crying out loud. I hope I’m one tenth as alive when I’m that age. Third, you know he’s told those stories for 50 years (e.g., how “Octopus’s Garden” was inspired — “Pete’s boat” indeed) but the stories are as fresh as if he just remembered them for the first time in years. BTW, I love that Jimmy is in awe but is a great kidder. It’s like they were great friends there. They aren’t friends in the normal sense. We all feel like we know Ringo (millions upon millions of us) and he his generous enough to feel like he knows you too. I’m a huge, huge fan of him as a human being and as an artist.
