Ricky is the most Virtuous Victim in all of mass media. The media loves him for being a Victim.

Ricky Gervais is a loser. There’s nothing you can’t joke about? If he said anything about anyone I’ve lost in the last 2 years his lifespan would be dramatically shortened.

I love watching comedians mature/develop over time, and Ricky has especially shown and shared his journey with such honesty and (increasing) ‘humility’ maybe?
When I started dating my ex in 2008, he got me to watch the British office, but I found Ricky to be a little too brash/mean-spirited so I had trouble laughing at first. But his writing and performance style in subsequent projects matured to include a healthy slice of (at least partial) empathy at times, which feels like it brought more ‘heart’ to his humour. He fills the same wisdom-and-heart void that George Carlin filled for me.
Anything Ricky makes is sure to include heaps of laughter and thoughtfulness, and I think most of us look forward to every chance we get to witness it. 🙂

Bring James on to confront him. Unless you’re a gladhanding sycophant, Seth, you’ll do it.

Scary when you feel Ricky Gervais is telling your story, so much, a tear surface.

One season too late to go out on top Ricky. But I suppose there was money to be made….
I recommend the first two seasons though. They are really good. Here is a challenge: try to imagine what Golden Globe Ricky would have had to say about the last season of Afterlife…

“Bad luck! That’s my job. I’m a stand-up comedian. I’m meant to challenge people. If you don’t like being challenged, don’t watch my shows. What’s the matter guys? Too challenging for you?”

I just love James Acaster for this 😂

    “You brave little cis boy!“

Name one time Ricky ever thought he should be held accountable for literally anything. Once. Please. I can’t think of a single instance in which he had the maturity to say he was wrong about something, ever. Ever. Once.

Was best friends with Louis CK, called Hollywood a bunch of abusers for working with MeToo figures, then threw CK under the bus and excused himself from accountability.

Every step he could take to be a selfish scumbag in the last few years, he’s taken it.
