5:50 this should be an irrelevant detail, UNLESS these neighberhoods did not have higher crime statistics and succesfull raids. showing this first before showing the others pushes viewers in a specific corner.

    Wait 20 sec.
Any longer than that would not allow cops to get the drugs that they and their owned drugs use at their parties.
I knew a dealer who provided up to 10,000 dollars of crack every month for a judge’s parety whihc included DA, cops and lawyers.

Simple solution. Rewrite and issue a standard national police contract for every law enforcement officer, from patrol officer to head of the FBI, and make them liable for their own actions, their associations, mental condition etc. For example… if charged with a crime jury trial is waved and the case is tried by a judge; Prejudiced stupid jury problem gone. Misconduct you go before an independent civilian panel (no PD reps allowed). Disband police unions, like Reagan did the Air Traffic Controllers. Require psychological and physical fitness tests and job performance review upon demand.
If they don’t want to sign the contract, they don’t get the job. Simple. If you’re a KKK Wizard, prescription drug addict or wife-beater…you don’t get the job….

Based on this episode. It sounds like it’s easy to claim someone’s home is in possessions of drugs or guns. It’s either suck f’s who want to watch other’s inconvenience or fake Samaritans who’re suspicious of the abstract concept of non-whites. Imagine that senator’s address was falsely ticked off for these raids, would he change his mind?

The cops who raid the wrong home should be IMMEDIATELY placed on a strict probationary period, because it shows that they are not well suited for police work. Any further shitty, lazy, reckless, dangerous, or incompetent, police work, with too little verification of the target location. This doesn’t sound like what the founding fathers had in mind for America.

Whenever I was little, the police swatted my grandma’s house looking for my petty criminal uncle in his early 20s… and I had a douchebag swat point a loaded rifle at me in a high chair. Grandpa (a now very angry man) decided to take matters into his own hands and tell them to GTFO and thankfully, they did. My uncle was in California… We were in PA.

While I completely agree that drug raids are an exaggerated measure, I can’t help but think of the counterargument of “what if they have a gun?”; because in the US, this is a legitimate concern. And if anyone being able to get a gun is such a legitimate concern that it is used to justify raids and police brutality altogether, why don’t people talk more about gun control in this context as well, and not just when another unfortunate school shooting happens? I would love to see John Oliver-like people analyze gun control in the context of BLM and police brutality, to me it’s an essential perspective that’s not enough touched upon.

My wife and I were raided at 3:00 a.m. because a neighbor invented a story about our house being invaded by “half-dozen Hispanics” (from the anonymized 911 transcript we obtained) We don’t know why. Nobody was sanctioned and nobody apologized. And while my wife and I were handcuffed in our upstairs bedroom, the half-dozen police went right past our son’s bedroom without opening the door, so he slept through the whole thing. The fictional “half dozen Hispanics” COULD have been right there. Bonus: these cops all came from the precinct that ended up murdering George Floyd.

I used to manage the range that taught most cops in the PNW. Spoilers: They cant shoot for shit, most are dumb as bricks, and I wouldn’t even give them a handgun, much less anything larger. The typical random person on the street will outshoot them given even a day or two of training. Police have become a gang, but unlike real gangs which are sort of honest in their intentions, the cops can legally lie to you… but if you lie in return, it is illegal. At this point, police dying is at best a shrug moment, and at worst they entirely deserve it.

And remember kids, the supreme court has ruled multiple times that the police have NO duty to actually protect you. Police/Fire/EMT are not first responders. You (or the victim) are the first responder. Your protection is entirely up to you. They are the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th responding tier. Cops are just there to fuck you up, or draw an outline. They belong in the same category as car salesman, insurance companies, lawyers, and congress critters.

Police in the UK are trained to be shocking and intimidating in order to seccure a safe arrest. And by safe, I mean for the person being arrested. For example, the UK police will deliberately smash in your car window in order to shock and dissorientate you, so they can pull you from you’re vehicle and put cuffs on. This is MUCH better than the alternative of beating someone up in order to passify them. The US police are so badly trained, it is not unusual for them to continue beating an arestee up after they have already been subdued or cuffed. They are acting like a bunch of ye haw cowbosy, with all the proffesionallism and restraind that implies. It does not take much proffessionalism to make sure you have the correct house BEFORE you commence a clearly planned raid.

The police service seems to attract 2 types of people. Emotional philanthropists and bullies from the shallower end of the gene pool that take advantage of the complete lack of accountability. If you force entry into someone’s home that, is clearly the wrong house, this should make the warrant null and void leaving the signees of the warrant chargeable for damages. That bring the judge and the requesting officer. I’m sure a Republican sonewhere is prepared to set up insurance for such a thing.

To those that say “oh well they’re acting on information” theres something called due diligence! 80% of the time if officers, or judges did their due diligence they wouldnt be fucking it up for the officers that strive to make an actual fucking difference!

Politicians love police raids because it reminds people to keep their heads down and obediently take their corruption, the injustices, the inequality, their incompetence, and their deceitfulness. They’re not about to change such a valuable tool of intimidation & suppression unless a lot more people call them out on their b.s.

Well, for full disclosure, I do not have a gun, and I am fairly sure there is no cult leaders killing babies at my place. I do know however know that I have no criminal record and have not done anything that would warrant braking into the place during day, night or any time in between. Thus, if someone breaks in particularly if carrying fire arms, last thing I could reasonably assume is that it could be police. Also….in shocked stressful state I guarantee you that one reacts instinctively, not in a calm rational manner. In other words….yes. if I had a gun or preferably in these situations a machine gun….I would feel much safer after I discharge it into anything that moves (*hopefully excluding family members and pets). An attacker is an attacker…clothing and shouting does not matter much. Even if they shouted “police”…why would I believe such a thing (remember….I know for sure i did not do anything wrong…I can not know for sure that attackers are not lying as well as being violent)? Logic demands that cost of hesitation would be too high. Ultimately…yes, unless there is no proven threat to life no one should make raids.

I used to think SWAT members were the most highly trained and professional officers out there but seeing some of these overweight and out of shape officers waddling along with their battering rams really showed me the truth. WHY are these guys given such dangerous gear when they don’t have the training to even use it properly? Why isn’t it harder to become a Police Officer than it is now? This job is one that requires peak professionalism, mental toughness and stability and a lot of training but it seems like any average joe is welcomed onto the force and given this incredible amount of power. It makes zero sense to me.

The UK has changed qualification requirements for policing in the past few years, and research shows that countries requiring degree level qualifications have a better police service with lower rates of wrongful arrest/ casualties. And while you’re at it educate them thoroughly on the racist context of biases and majority POC neighbourhoods

I think some good sensitivity training should be in order for all swap teams and police raid units. Before they can participate, they should have to experience the traumatic shocking ordeal themselves where some random cops they don’t know show up to their homes in a no knock warrant. The need to experience the trauma themselves to be able to empathize. Essentially, these cops are domestic terrorists everytime they raid an innocent home. They traumatized the individuals, broke down their doors, wasted tax dollars and accomplished nothing. These things really need to end!

    I’m from the UK.
The police raided my flat one Sunday morning, at about 8.30 am, taking me completely by surprise.
A very polite and well spoken officer knocked ON my door (with the door knock) and I opened the door (because I wasn’t expecting the police). He asked if he could come inside and talk to me about some stolen goods and perchance have a quick look around my flat? 🤔 I asked if he had a warrant and he said no, but if i wanted to, then he could drive me to the police station and lock me up until he obtained one, so I agreed. I was (honestly) clueless about everything he spoke to me about, and I think it showed 🤨 So, he had a quick look around my flat, smiled at me as he moved my weed from one side of the table to the other whilst sorting through all the rubbish everywhere, and then left, after apologising for bothering me. He even phoned me the next week to say that I needn’t worry about them bothering me again (which I thought was rather nice).
    I’m very glad I don’t live in America 👍

It’s currently popular to see everything as a race issue but. There’s probably far more guns in those neighbourhoods then the other. And a much higher crime rate. statistics that can be looked at without seeing race. Interestingly you’r seeing race in this. The only reason that your not being called out as a racist is because your framing it from the victims perspective. Your validating their vitomhood. But technically this his just as racists as saying African Americans are far more likely to commit crimes then Anglo-saxons. Both statements are equally problematic.

20 seconds to answer your door? There are so many reasons why this time frame is ridiculous!
    – old people who move slowly
    – disabled people with a variety of disabilities that could cause them to take a while to answer the door
    – someone sleeping would never be able to answer the door in that time
    – maybe someone is listening to music with headphones and doesn’t hear the knock on the door
    – someone could be in the backyard and not hear the doorbell
    – parent could be busy with their kid and might not be able to stop what they’re doing within 20 seconds

Probably so many more normal reasons that aren’t “flushing a miniscule amount of drugs down the toilet”…

One thing I’d be curious about is the success rate of various forms of “reasonable suspicion” used in raids. Because if one of those sources is low then how can it be considered “reasonable suspicion?”.

Also qualified immunity is supposed to protect valuable experts from genuine mistakes. Using it as blanket protection from a complete lack of training is absurd.

One time my wife was having a panic attack and was shouting for help. We lived in an apartment complex, so naturally the police were called by a neighbor. Understandable. 1 to 2 police officers should come make sure she is ok, understandable. 5 cops, 3 cop cars, lights and sirens. I opened the door in my pajamas to tell them she was having a panic attack. She was shouting at them to leave and that she was fine and that I was not beating her. One of the officers begins to push open my door. I stop him and say “I do not give you permission to enter my home.” He said “We have probable cause and don’t need permission.” I said “Probable cause? She is shouting for you to leave and that I am not harming her. So 1 officer can verify that then you can leave.” One cop entered and did that while the other 4 cops forced me onto my balcony in my pajama’s. At this point I was a bit annoyed, embarrassed(the neighbors were enjoying the show) and less understanding. I said something about this being unnecessary and ridiculous. A younger, muscled, buzzcut, meathead type cop then got inches from my face and stuck his finger in my face saying “Don’t get a f*cking attitude!” I said “Wow, calm down bro. I’m not your enemy.” He then backed away, I assume realizing he was not going to goad me into a confrontation, not a physical one at least. The first cop then left my apartment and then said if my wife did not calm down they would take her to jail. She is disabled and prone to panic attacks, and agoraphobic. That is how they were going to help her. After they realized I was wasn’t beating my wife and they couldn’t feed their White Knight complex’s, it became that we were a problem. Worst part is, months later a new neighbor was beating his wife. Me and my wife heard it clear as day(cheap thin apartment walls), the sound of fist hitting flesh, it’s a distinctive sound. I called the police(literally for the first time in my 30 years of life), the cops showed up and his wife had a bloody nose. Like a typical abused person, the wife backed up a lie about her nose bleeding because of the removal of a nose ring. Was that what woke me and my wife at 3 a.m., removing a nose ring while the words “stupid, fat, b*tch” are screamed? The cops left and nothing happened, other than me and my wife being ostracized from that point forward. Never had a positive interaction with the police in my life, and I am a white man. Just shows you how out of control the police have become. My heart goes out to every minority and woman treated far worse than me.

I’m a big fan of the Judge Dredd comics, about a fascist police force ruling over the citizens. They can kick your door down unannounced, use military grade weapons, and rule through fear…but at least they actually give compensation if they don’t find a crime and face harsh punishment when they go too far.
This is not a good thing.

Areas not raided I like to call law enforcement neighbourhoods! Cops migrate into the same neighbourhood like they agree on it, like DA, or DEA live in the same area! Also, Black and Hispanic are targeted more by the paid informants, news investigators, military, airforce, and civilian patrols via aircraft (civil air patrol) or ground units! Mainly aircraft because they are to scare to be on the ground. You should do a segment on the 3 percenters some group that believes they are the 3% left out of the population that are righteous!

You know you don’t really have real rights when a group of people can break down you door, flash grenade you and your family, terrorize everyone, trash your residence and possibly cause significant bodily harm while being at the wrong house THEY ARE NOT EVEN REQUIRED TO PAY FOR HOUSE DAMAGES. Could you imagine having to explain that to a landlord, they would probably suspect you of being involved with drugs after having the house raided even if your absolutely not.
All this is acceptable because they were wearing clothes that say “police” on them.

I saw a video the other day from a german who was living in the US and is now living in Japan, where he talked about the different types of Police in each of the countrys. He told a story from when he first lived in the US and his US friends told him directly: if you interact with the police, do nothing, tell them nothing about yourself and ask 2 questions “Is that all?” and “Can i go now?”, because the police is not your friend, they are your enemy. US law enforcement are horrible compared to the UK, Germany or Japan.

Easy solution is state legislators pass laws that the officers that sign and apply for search warrants are legally and financially liable as individuals for wrongly served raids. Naturally the police unions can cover the costs of the incompetence. The union executives will feel some money costs and will push out the incompetent cops and encourage the department executives to fire those incompetent individuals. Too many ex-cops are legislatures so this solution is not likely to occur.

Hell the officers that didn’t announce themselves during or after shining spot lights and flashlights in every window is my home at 3am waking me and my wife up, where greeted with a gun when I opened the door to check what the hell was going on. Thankfully I noticed their uniforms and stepped back far enough to put the gun down before they noticed the gun. Otherwise their warrantless search of my property, detention, and forced identification could have ended much worse than just a violation of my rights.

Too many fuckups, and that for sure needs to change, as is evident in the case of Breonna Taylor. But still, outside looking in people really don’t understand how much good police do, as they are mostly privileged suburbanites who don’t have to face the evils of organized crime on a daily basis.

This all comes back to America’s lack of gun control. The police have to treat everyone as if they are armed, until they can confirm that you’re not. Elsewhere in the world the police treat you as if you’re not armed, unless they have evidence that you might be. This complete mindset change is why there’s so many more innocent people killed by police in the USA than other developed countries.

What started this “war on drugs”?

Basically Nixon wanted to stop all the anti Vietnam war demonstrations but couldn’t due to your constitutional right to peaceful protest, so he created laws that made drugs illegal, and one of the worst drugs according to him… Marijuana (And why you’ll get a harsher penalty for dope than for known harder drugs).
Dope was the most popular drug of choice for young rally go-ers, overnight he had a way of stopping your right to peaceful protest.

“SWAT” teams proliferated, as the same lawmakers gave money to local police to create these special police teams. If the local guys promised to help on the “war on drugs” they got given shitloads of money to militarise their police forces. Go ahead and research the effectiveness of these so called “elite” police, it’s woeful, it’s disgustingly poor.

Police are not trained to operate in the military methods they employ, it shows in their pathetic level of ineffectiveness. A soldier who doesn’t follow the rules of engagement will end up at the wrong end of a military court, if the injure or kill a non combatant, even by mistake they’ll be in jail and if their lucky the jail will be in their country, not the country the conflict was in. But not police, they get immunity, for illegally assaulting and killing their OWN COUNTRYMEN.

And it’s not just America, a lot of so -called civilised western democracies are going down the same path. Here in Australia we tend to copy a lot of the mistakes you make in the US. One day we (ordinary citizens) will wake up. Maybe, nah, probably not.

So, in short: It’s deeply woven into the US American self-conception that, in case of someone intruding into your home, you may legally defend yourself with even a firearm – unless the attacker is a member of police force on duty. Which you’re probably supposed to figure out at 3am, just awoken by, of all things, bangs on your door and people shouting and progressing through your home very quickly.
While possible invading the wrong address. Which to find out they had days or weeks, and which to actually find they could completely freely plan as they pleased – this is a surprise operation, after all.

So the victim is supposed to be better at figuring out the other side than _an actual official governmental department_, that can not only execute any ever so radical measure with seemingly limitless supply, but also _give sanction to this measure_ by means of legal procedures. And, might I stress again: They weren’t just woken up, they are not naked, they don’t have their babies with them.

    This, frankly, is embarrassing.

Why not look at the energy consumption of the place, see if it is enough for one, two or however any people there should be? Why not ask the postal fucking office about who would they be delivering the mail if they were dropping it off at that place? Is there really no way to double check the intelligence before you kick the door down? (I am actually asking btw; curious)

We had no idea who they were until an actual police uniform came in 15 minutes later. They used a flash-bang grenade in my room, dragged me off the top bunk of my bunk bed, then zip tied my hands behind my back for two hours. My fingers were blueish-purple by the time the detective cut the tie off. They had the wrong address. Maybe gun advocates should pay attention to the “organized militia” part of the second amendment, so we can start actually protecting each other from incompetent, over-equipped, sadistic police?

It makes me sick just how much I didn’t know about what minorities go through until George Floyd’s murder happened. I wanna find an island and start a new country where you have to take an “I’m not a racist asshole” test to move to.
