ReplyI own a 1969 Holden Kingswood… I’m not a mechanic but on the rare occasion something goes wrong, I can easy fix it up.. and I do mean easily! The sparkplugs, oil filter, fuel pump & filter, hoses.. you name it it’s all right there! Even by modern standards it’s decent on fuel… it’s certainly been that my LS1 powered Wagon from 2005 (stock from factory btw). Yet I look at any car past 2015 and I struggle to make heads or tails out of what I’m looking at… Have you seen the new Ford Bronco’s holy hell what pieces of crap – you can’t even see the engine under all the garbage they put on top… I haven’t done any maths on this but all the money, time & research with all the chemicals, developing & manufacturing of saving a little bit of fuel… hardly seems worth it for the consumer or environment…
We should have stopped at EFI (electronic fuel injection) which became the norm around 1990 on all makes… by 2015 things have just gone bat shit crazy…
And guess what makes modern cars soo unreliable… the emission systems… to bad car makes have no incentive to make them better quality… I’m happy to pay a bit more in fuel and have a very reliable car then one that’s expensive to maintain with a baby alarm in the back…
