ReplySo, when is Trump going to jail?
ReplyIts all China’s fault….. Its all Russia’s fault…. lol…lol….
ReplyMaybe this Roaring 20s will inspire a Great Gatsby-style Great American novel that doesn’t bore high-schoolers to death.
ReplyThanks Bill.
ReplySpot on bill!

ReplyCocaine in the coca-cola, what a time to be alive. We need to get back to that…
ReplyIs anyone surprised Biden is heading in the wrong direction when he doesn’t even know when or where he is at times?
ReplyBill Maher has completed his journey from what used to be a liberal to a hardcore conservative when it comes to fiscal policy.

ReplyActually, from what i gather their “original taste” means they still use cocaine. But they extract it in such a way that you arent getting the properties of it that make you high in that way. Instead you get sugar and caffeine highs.
ReplyBill get with the times brotha, you’re so out of touch my man.
ReplyBiden firing people for past Marijuana Drug use – what a dumbass! He has an opportunity to progress and he goes backwards instead. Obviously Bernie Sanders gave away too much for too little in return. We would have been better off with Trump. And I think Trump is the worse president so far.
ReplyBill making sense and then went off topic with drugs again. Burned too many brain cells. Pathetic little man.
ReplyHow come we didn’t have another Gay 90’s in the 20th century?
ReplyBig problem is the fun, non addictive, awesome drugs like mda/psilocybin are way more scarce and hard to find than life-destroying opiods, & carry longer prison sentences.
I got off years of opiate addiction with a weekend of shrooms in Thailand. Best thing to ever happen to me. It’s such a joke, these natural substances saved my life and carry longer prison time than demerol.
ReplyPost Trump bill maher is gold I wish the other comedians would get over it as well
ReplyAs long as foreign countries keep extending us credit we will never learn.

ReplyWow. First comedian to crack a joke about Joe Biden, unless I’m missing it he is so far the only President comics find nothing to laugh about. Hate to say it, disagree with him on almost everything, but starting to like this guy. I know he doesn’t agree that western civilisation is the greatest achievement ever, but he does not want to shut anyone up.
Reply.Bill since you’re trying your hand at “economics”, think about these subjects: A) the usa has the greatest national debt in history, while the rich get richer, the poor get poorer – no wonder the RIGHT keeps preachig against “socialism”! B)Just like the 20s, there is a global recession, fueled by competition and protectionism- all of it pushing you (us) to a world war! C) Major political parties are moving to the RIGHT and a rise of Neo Fascism globally- from India to Europe/USA/Russia etc. E) Minorities across the globe are used as escapegoats, refugees on the move – all of it caused by ruthless Capitalist/Imperialist exploitation/competition, wars and desperate populations . . . to be continued
ReplySo easy for wealthy people like Maher to crap on people who got an absolute dismal amount of help for a situation they had no control over
ReplyIt’s not odd that the market is up and Billionaires octuple their wealth whilst ordinary folks are struggling to make ends meet. It’s the the system – especially the American system – working as designed and intended.
ReplyI wish they’d make up their minds. Either the young people are wrong for getting out or they’re wrong for staying home.
Reply9% of the covid Bill went for covid relief and The rest went to irrelevant pet projects like the big money tunnel Nancy wanted for her district and the biggest waste went for handouts to other Countries.
Handouts that the American people are going to be forced to pay back.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a Dem or Rep you should be outraged over their money grab, Government is taking from us to hand out to others like it’s theirs to give away. We have our own struggles and needs. Every bit of the “Covid relief bill” should’ve went to Covid-relief not only 9%.of it.
They like to make it sound like they are helping us when they’re really hurting us!
When they “give” you $1400,00. You are going to pay $5000,00 + back, through your taxes. The taxpayer is the one responsible for paying back the money that they are giving away to other countries and being spent on pet projects
And they aren’t just taxing rich people to pay it back ,we are all going to be taxed
Just wait until January 2022
to see how much money you’ve overwhelmingly been taxed!
I’m sick of both parties constantly screwing us! They are getting away with it because we’re all divided to the extreme where no matter what our own side says or does we won’t speak out against it because we’d be giving the other side a win.
ReplyWe are being played. We have to get ourselves out of that mindset and come together
Reminding both sides who they work for. They love keeping us divided along party lines because they know they can get away with anything no matter how ridiculous as long as the other side opposes it.
Is Bill a Libertarian now?
ReplyWW2 cost $4 trillion, but all of that money was eliminated. Covid19 destroyed much less money. For example, all the restaurants and bars – the money that they did not earn is still there. It was just held back. And that explains the stock market. Take me, for example. I had no losses due to Covid19. I made the same money these past twelve months as always. But I did not go on vacation, did not go out much, simply did not spend as much. As a result, there are now $5,000 in my back account that I would not have otherwise. So what do I do? If I am a good guy, I will donate it. But if not, I will buy stock.

I don’t watch Bill very much…
… but he’s still a f****** idiot.
Fact-checking him would be like low-hanging fruit
ReplyMaybe bill should consider retiring

ReplyUmmm 291,557 Americans died in World War II (over approximately 6 years). While 548, 432 Americans have died of Covid (in a little over 1 year). THAT is why the response must be so much larger than during WWII. Duh!
WWII actually CREATED jobs. “American factories were retooled to produce goods to support the war effort and almost overnight the unemployment rate dropped to around 10%.” According to Google. The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting lockdown caused 114 million people to lose their jobs over 2020.
So the picture of the guy on the couch with the remote is not very accurate at all. It would have been more accurate to show the large number of families in lines for food boxes all around the country. Next time, tell your people to do their homework before making fun of people who really NEED the relief the Government is offering.
Let’s just hope THIS time the bail out money actually gets to families in need instead of to huge corporations such as the one paying your huge salary. I love you Bill but that joke was not cool.
ReplyThe establishment’s planned recession is going as planned. Stories like this help set the stage. Thanks for doing the establishment’s work as usual Bill.
ReplyThat was poorly written, Bill.
ReplyGreat.
ReplyNow many many prisons will have to find other slaves to work their production lines…I mean prisoners to rehabilitate
All it took was a biden mention of raising taxes over covid for the narrative to focus on spending and fiscal responsibility.
ReplyWealthy Left is only liberal till it comes time to pay for the progress it promotes.
Seems we’re definitely going back to the racism of the 20s-or have we never left?
Replythis dude so outa touch it’s silly. Imagine being a super wealthy Liberal White Man who thinks he is just so much smarter than the rest of us poor leaching leftist, lmmfao what a clown shoe…
ReplyThe oil industry Bill. That’s why prohibition happened. Atleast that’s what I think the research points to. Anything that you can make alcohol out of, you can make fuel out of.
ReplyIf we get a little prosperity for a bit, maybe we could work on eliminating personal debt, keeping emergency funds, and having realistic expectations about how much we need to own to be comfortable. Compared to other countries Americans are the most invested in the rat race and always keeping up with the Joneses. Whenever we do have cash, we end up creating a bubble. The more we make , the more we end up in debt, buying SUVs and McMansions. We’re gamblers who can’t leave the table while we’re ahead. (Or even when we’re on a long losing streak, for that matter..)
ReplyFuck you, Bill. You haven’t met or spoken to a regular working American like myself in a decade apparently. We are needing help because we aren’t essential workers, we are EXPENDABLE workers. Billionaires were crying their asses off because of the shutdown, proving that they don’t make their billions, WE DO. The burden of rent with a $12/hour SKILLED job was killing me, and I was evicted in December when I fell behind, I spent 9 days freezing in a van, and have since been in the luxury that is a tent. I AM working, I got an $11.00 job in January and according to Indeed, the SKILLED jobs I’ve applied to are also being applies to LITERALLY HUNDREDS of other applications, some people will have better skills than myself, and of course I will have more than others. I wish the fuck I could have spent my quarantine time in Hawaii in your house, I wouldn’t want the pandemic to end! The damage is very real and very serious, and this is the second economic collapse I’ve have to live through, and this one has been way worse than the last one. I don’t give a fuck about bailing out banks and airlines, I want a high speed train across America so that maybe I will get just the chance to visit Hawaii. You sound more like the bitter old man on the porch rather than a brilliant comedian who should be a political advisor instead. Why didn’t you help with Bernie Sanders campaign like you did Prez Obama?
ReplyWhat a dumb comparison. $4T for ww2 vs $6T now. We have 200 million more people than we did back then. Quit whining. The US isn’t broke, no the “debt ” isn’t a problem. Not even a little bit.. and in 2008 it was widely recognized that the stimulus package back then was only half the size it needed to be.
ReplyYou can thank the keynsian economic policies of Hoover to start the depression and the economic stimulus packages of FDR to make it Great.
ReplyThe key to solving this pandemic is to start putting cocaine in Coca-Cola again.
ReplyDoesn’t take that much effort to not get involved with drugs.
ReplySo basically…..
” it’s good to be true – it’s got to end soon – the end of thr world is coming”
?? There’s some major leaps in logic there
ReplyWe can’t get a $15 minimum wage, Medicare for all, or a UBI. Do you really think they will legalize drugs? That war is making them and their buddies shit tons of cash.
ReplyThe drug war will never end here because the amount of money they seize is enormous. Certain cops take that money and divide it among themselves and filtering it through the stock market to clean it up.
ReplyLeave Biden out of your jokes , are you lacking material since the loser is gone ?
ReplyYeah, what the f, Joe!
ReplySoon! Everyone! Will be! Will be wanting to speak! I need one hundred million dollars! First and foremost! Thank you!
ReplyPot legalozation, and they don’t let out the minor offenses it will deplete their donors coffers and the polititiands won’t do the right thing. The pricate and puvlic mass incarceration is insane until you follow the money.
ReplySo what ne felony can the get all the people tn prison in? Keep telling the public servants who are lining their pockets we are happy to vote them out for giving this sham of mass incarceration makes things safer its for their donors pockets. If they don’t vote to end it, which their masters will be taking a new tactic beware, we just vote out the greedy politicians who don’t end the scheme of drug war crime solved by incarceration lies.
We flip that money into programs to help children and parents raise them with enrichment and time in nature, adequate safe living standards and a fraction of the cost will end most of the problems.
Why do u inject Racism into everything “”it’s just dividing us. Is that what you want?, you’ll be on that list you made for other soon.
ReplyThe canned laughter is just terrible, they don’t sound real hahahahaha, all at once and stop all at once, or maybe there audience is just democratic Robotical tools waiting to be fed some hate.
ReplyLegalize it
ReplyBill blaming millennials for Trump and Biden bailing out Wall Street to the tune of $6 billion.
ReplyCoke took the cocaine out before the passing of the Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906. They still used the leaves for flavoring, they still do, but no, no actual cocaine.
ReplyWhaaaaat? Occupy Wall street wasn’t a protest about the 700 Billion Dollar bailout. It was a protest about most of that money GOING TO WALL STREET! We really haven’t ever recovered from that set-back either. I know several people that lost their houses because of losing their livelihood. Obama was handing over endless cash to the very same people that created the crash, and NOT to the people losing their jobs, and houses. The banks were getting free money to lend… but NOT LENDING IT. Large corps were given money to keep workers on the payroll, but instead, fired them anyway and gave bonuses to their board of directors, and also used the cash to buy back their stock.
ReplyI love Bill, but right here is the edge of his ability to understand how things actually are for “the rest of us”. This kind of talk prevents us from ever learning from hardships we create.
Iceland learned and corrected the problems, but not us.
He’s spot on about the money issue. The $1.9T boondoggle just passed for “Covid” after that war is over, is a prime example. We increased the spending by 50% for WHAT?
The bit about the drug war, while I agree with it should be stopped, I don’t think that’s the PRIMARY issue at stake (nor the cause of the spending crazee) rather just something that’s near and dear to Bill’s heart.
The trouble is, Democrats have gotten away with spending so much, without any public or personal fallout, that the Republicans have given up fighting against it as well. It’s like we’re all on the Titanic, and since we haven’t hit an iceberg YET, then, by golly, we’re never going to hit one! Even if there isn’t anyone at the helm steering the ship.
ReplyComment about drug war starts at exactly 4:20.
ReplyU.S. population is 2.3 times larger than 1945. So ability to spend is not 4 but 9.2 billion. Current covid is 6. Plus what’s not added is cost of marshal plan as buildings are not destroyed. That brings new total to…………..
ReplyOpen the economy. Who owns your debt and interest payments? China. Wake up. Wealth extraction.

At the end of Prohibition they criminalised Marijuana to keep the Bureaucrats and Enforcement people in work. A whole political/legal and administrative empire had grown up around Prohibition, they just needed another target and they were off.
ReplyHence the “War on Drugs”.
Bill Maher you voted for Biden because you hated Trump so much and now you’re complaining about the huge overspending that his administration is doing also the cancel culture that his administration is promoting the open border policy that his administration is also promoting his administration is promoting far-left ideologies similar to China’s Communist Party and you voted for all this bill I guess you’re having buyer’s remorse
ReplyPeople need to wake up and realize that we have already stepped through the door of a new depression. We aren’t arriving at one, we are in one…….And the worst is yet to come.
ReplyThe big pharma lobby against drugs they couldn’t patent. And the police union are against drugs if it means they couldn’t arrest and commit asset forfeiture. As always it’s government selling its power to monopolists.
ReplyWell maybe your dems need to stop spending money on every country that asks. Central America. 700,000 million to stop people from wanting to come to USA. What. Makes no sense.
ReplySave your money
Replyhere in seattle we ended the war on drugs and legalized everything
ReplyWhat the fuck is up with Maher, he makes a lot more sense these days.
ReplyThe reason those working in the White House “A.K.A.” federal government is because Federal Laws say pot is Schedule 1 THAT has to change. That’s what needs to be changed ASAP Businesses can do random drug tests, you could have smoked pot days ago, it’s in your urine you’re out. CHANGE the Federal Law
ReplyIf I don’t know any better, u would think Bill is a republican
ReplyNone of this shit will happen, Bill. Our country will be unrecognizable in three years. The people that have seized power want endless wars and migrations and are going to bring hundreds of millions of 3rd worlders here.
Replybilly boy,..,.,you got so much material now.,.,.,happy for you.,.,and me lol,.,.peace

ReplyHey Bill I’m with you. Somebody tell AOC u just came keep printing money you big dope.
ReplyBill is the perfect example that people can change for the better.
ReplyBill, you are NOT an economist any more than you are an epidemiologist
ReplyIf the GOVT. Wants to put restrictions on us for covid and keep us from working or going to a restaurant or a theater or sports arenas . Give us pot to keep us complacent . Make pot legal !
ReplyReal stuff bill
ReplyBiden had to fire his five staffers because marijuana is still federally illegal and it would be hypocritical to keep those staffers
ReplyThis dude is not funny
ReplyBoth prohibitions were to suppress a minority group -Irish and Italian immigrants in the former and educated counter culture in the second.

ReplyBill Maher is now a fiscal conservative and a libertarian. It only took what… 20 years?
ReplyBill not understanding modern monetary theory
SAD!
ReplySo has Bill actually pulled his head out of his ass?
ReplyWhich ethnicity will get it in the 40s?
ReplyUnfortunately, it seems like America never learns.
ReplyExcellent.
ReplyI live in Maine where prohibition started, and actually in Portland Maine where I live a child wandered up to a pastor and he was completely drunk and only 10 years old there was a reason why they started prohibition there was a serious drinking problem across the country

Replyyou voted for the Ass Biden and now you’re complaining that he is spending too much money?
ReplyPortugal has 10 million people and USA has 330 million. What kind of comparison is this?
ReplySounds like Bill is having elected president remorse and misses Trump. Well, we can hope president Harris does something good before the end of her term. I mean, Biden. Or whoever is running the white house.
ReplyRelease from prison people convicted of selling and using marijuana and get those felony criminal convictions off their records.
ReplyActually, Portugal decriminalized drug use in the 90’s, not only 10 years ago. The guy who was prime-minister back then is now the current UN secretary-general. And not only ODs fell dramaticallly but also AIDS cases.
ReplyNo matter what Maher’s saying, I find the man’s smarminess to be uniquely repulsive. Luckily, he’s not exactly curing cancer on that show.
ReplyThis tool still has a show??
ReplyThe US is really going to a dark dark place, because nothing is gonna change.
ReplyWatch out for the sinophobia. For the Asian community, history rhyming isnt pretty.
ReplyGod I love Bill
ReplyBIll, the cartels make more money shipping people from South and Central America to the US than they do smuggling drugs. Google it.
ReplyWe could have spent a lot less if the bills gave more money to the people and less money to corporate America.
ReplyAt some point I’m always sorry I watch Bill Maher and this time it’s because his characterization of the stimulus is so completely missing the point. Putting up the picture of the guy on the couch with the remote is a right wing move for sure, and it was stupid. The stimulus isn’t primarily handing out money. And it’s DEFINITELY not primarily handing out money to undeserving layabouts. It’s a massive initiative (which he seems to have forgotten between the joke about Trump not being able to build a wall and now) and includes public works jobs that will help the economy and start dealing with our scary decrepit falling apart infrastructure.
ReplyIf only there was an option to skip to the 50’s with strong middle class, booming economy. Unfortunately that won’t be possible given it takes a cataclysm with the whole world in ruins, no competition whatsoever in industrial production as all the nations would be licking their wounds, standing still, rebuilding their war torn infrastructure. That was an opportunity that arose once in history.
ReplyThe Roaring Twenties had another side effect also… Guess what I’m referring to.
ReplyThe point about Portugal was skewed: Portugal has a opulation of 10 million which means corrected by size makes about 3000 OD related deaths compared to the 81K in the US. Still an insane difference tho.
ReplyJoe Biden’s campaign was “I’m not Trump”.
ReplyWhat did you expect?
When I sped your voice up you, sound like such a face punch worthy clown.
ReplyYeah I think incarceration for drug use is stupid. Just think of the constitution. The Bill of Rights… Democrats. In other news, no, you can’t create (print is so 20th Century) TRILLIONS of worthless dollars and not have a financial collapse. So, buy bitcoin.
ReplyToo many special snowflakes in the world right now to have another decade of hedonist abandon.
ReplyStill way ahead of Australia
ReplyCome on Maher. Nothing funny to say about senile Joe Biden ? Or is he a big enough joke already ?
ReplyPersonally don’t care about all the smokers and addicts and I don’t care if they get their fix or not if there was even the slightest intent to care about my desire not to smell or inhale someones second hand smoke or have to clean up after they shit infront of my home then I’d go all out and even support the decriminalization of drugs but since no one gives a shit whether I have to deal with the crackhead or weed smoker that pops up in front of my home I dont care
ReplySmug, entitled Maher.
ReplyIn the pocket of the politically correct and the out-of-touch.
Oh wait, he notices the discrepancies between the stock market and the real economy.
Dennis Miller took a hard right turn, and Maher drank the neoliberal kool-aid.
Anyone who amasses significant wealth is particularly vulnerable to loss of empathy, condescension, and atrophy of progressivism.
But he’s still witty (or his writers are) — he can hang on to that.
We already have the solution to winning the drug war…it’s simple and costs no money at all…in fact it saves money, lives, marriages, relationships, families from being torn apart, resources, prevents crimes committed to get the money to buy drugs, there would be no victims of crimes committed to get the money to buy drugs, puts cartels out of business and allows countries to grow food instead of contraband and on and on…what is this miracle?????? 1 word…just say “no”….
ReplyDrug war MAKES too much money
ReplyGod some of these jokes are bad
ReplyLegalise, regulate, tax, it’s not rocket science.
ReplyThere has been tons of wealth and prosperity in the country over decades… the problem is the ppl at the top took all the money. With internet commerce and automation etc… they are almost self sustaining at this point. They could try to lose money and still wouldn’t be able to do it. Great system. Meanwhile we’re still out here in 2021 fighting for $15 min wage and arguing what counts as a “living wage”.
ReplyInflation is coming… They printed too much money.
ReplyAre the stories true? The Democrats said that more than 80 million people voted for Biden! I was wondering if their are that many idiot morons in America? Then they said it was election fraud!
ReplyThat makes more sense!
Maher should be voting Republican if he believes in stopping the endless flow of stimmie.
Reply“Why are we always the last at everything now?” Careful Bill, you’re approaching MAGA territory.
ReplyWW2 was six years – Yanks late as usual.
ReplyIiked this better when Bill didn’t have an audience. Can’t stand those stupid people clapping and yelling yeah! every second. Laughing is ok but that stuff makes me sick.
ReplyNo. The reason why the depression happened was because the Fed raised rates while the government cut spending at the same time. It killed markets everywhere. BUT They learned from their mistakes and are doing the opposite today. This is why the 2020s are not roaring but rather everyone can hold out some hope that we will survive it.
ReplyWhen you listen to Maher, you are listening to the demented ramblings of a deranged person encouraging drug usage for his own personal wealth and popularity.
ReplyLegalization works for weed but nothing any stronger. When a country “legalizes” a drug it becomes responsible for it. Do you want the FDA to be legally liable for all the tragedy associated with Coke? Or Meth? It’s possible for the government to get into the marijuana business but for other drugs the most that should be considered is de-criminalization. This stops arrests and incarceration for possession but stops short of making the government liable for controlling it – and the results of it.
ReplyThe reality of Portugal and drugs is rather different.
The stats are interesting to say the least……..
ReplyBill you are spot-on about the stock market. It hasn’t been tied to the real economy for about 10 years from what I can tell. I used to be heavy in the market, vs. saving. Now, I am much more cautious because I don’t think it’s realistic.
ReplyHoly poop! Does that mean you are finally willing to pay as much in taxes that I do?! Effe you Bill
ReplyBill I agree and disagree with you. You’re a comedian. It sucks to work somebody who is high at work and can’t pull their weight on a boring typical job. That’s why they have drug tests.
ReplyOh Bill wasn’t you praying for a great depression just to get rid of Trump? Didn’t you apologize for a tweet?
Perhaps don’t bend the knee to the mob or hope many Americans suffer just to get rid of a president you don’t like.
ReplyThe loud plate positionally yawn because salad mathematically decide since a various badger. loutish, narrow flag
ReplyAwesome show. Bill your laughing audience needs to go.
Replyplease no world war 3, please no world war 3… everything else comes after that.
ReplyI get the point, but why intentionally misrepresent the “76%” annual gain in the S&P? This is from the lowest of the low crash last March to now. Using exaggerated numbers makes people look stupid.
ReplyMaher thinks he shared some big news by telling us Coca-Cola had cocaine it. Thanks, we knew.

And you are correct….nothing makes sense……a Pandemic hits, millions unemployed and they reward the wealthy with more riches! We have gone from THOUSANDS to MILLIONS to BILLIONS to TRLLIONS…..next is QUADRILLIONS!!! MY friend just sold here little Bungalow on a 7,000sf lot for $900k to a DVELOPER….it’s a tear down in Arlington, Va!!!!!!!!!!!!! people are buying homes sight unseen….the insanity is worse than 2005-2007!!!!!

Why are we the last to get things done? Because congress have to discuss whether or not to talk about it. Then they need to take a vote whether or not a committee needs to be created for the issue. Then they need to vote on who to appoint to the committee. Then the committee needs to vote on when to meet. Then they have to have its members to submit rules for discussing the issue. Then they have to vote on what is to be discussed. Then they have to…
ReplyWe’ve already replicated and exceeded many aspects of the Depression.
ReplyReagan and his successors dismantled the safeguards of the New Deal, detaching “the market” from the actual economy. Executives and investors are once again trading money rather than investing in their businesses, executive pay is now 300-1000x their average employees, and political bribery has been legalized. In the US, corruption rules.
Liberals (who like to pretend they’re compassionate) are happy about West Virginians dying.
ReplyHe finally gets it. I used to hate this guy. He talks like he knows what we’ve been thinking for a while now
ReplyWell stop voting for democrats.
ReplyNot to mention Amsterdam did it like forty years ago. and used the revenue from it to fix a poor economy. and put in place programs to help get drug addicts get off hard drugs. and supply new needles and methadone clinics on wheels it was pretty much a success. you would think this Country would get the hint from them but no. the problem with this Country is when Republicans are in power. they think their right about everything and don’t want to be told what to do. and when Democrats are in power they are too spineless to actually do something. it’s a loose loose situation no doubt.

ReplyCompletely right. Outlawing things that make you feel good and don’t harm anyone else is plain stupid… and wrong.
Reply“I’m no money guy” That’s right, nor an economist, you’re a comedian.
ReplyThe Republicans and Democrats are ruining our country. In Real Time!
ReplyBill, please for the love of god find out why prohibition happened. It is a centennial a power struggle, and you might learn something. LYMI
ReplyHe forgets to mention only 9% of the 2 trillion went to covid relief!
ReplyBill is a fiscal conservative now?
ReplyCocaine is a schedule II drug whilst marijuana is schedule I. This goes back to Eric Holder, who as AG, held the power to change the schedule of a drug.
ReplyRegarding drug overdoses…Portugal’s pop is around 10 mil while the US’s is around 331 mil. So you need to work those numbers out by percentage. You know that.
ReplyThere’s always that one guy in Bill’s audience who laughs hardest to signal he gets the jokes better than the others.
ReplyWeird times when Bill sounds like a financial Libertarian.
ReplyNot that guy on the couch, unless HE’S a billionaire.
ReplyTricky Dick!
ReplyYou know Bill is a schill when he doesn’t even understand what the valuation of GME is actually based on, hurrr, durrr but the fundamentals said the Boomer.
ReplyRacism is back like it was in the roaring 20’s. If you’re a white person you’re assumed to be evil from birth. Democrats back to their old racist games of hiring according to skin color. Democratic Senators openly pushing hiring practices that prioritize race over qualifications. Yeah feels about like the 20’s.
ReplyCovid monopoly money has caused the dollar to drop by 30%, no one has seen the effects of it yet, but it’s already happened, ENJOY you earth full of morons
Replypff bill, stfu
ReplyBill has a nose for coke and the wallet to enjoy it.
Replybill has a phat WAP
ReplyIN THE 20s COCA-COLA CONTAINED COCA LEAVES… NOT COCAINE…!!!
ReplyCOCAINE CONTAINS COCA. COCAINE IS A STIMULANT NARCOTIC IN THE FORM OF A WHITE POWDER THAT AMERICAN USERS GENERALLY SELF-ADMINISTER BY INSUFFLATION THROUGH THE NOSE. COCA IS THE DRIED LEAF OF A SHRUB CULTIVATED LEGALLY IN ANDEAN COUNTRIES TO USE IN INDIGENOUS RITUAL CEREMONIES.
ReplyEvery time the White Guy Party are in power something bad always happens. They’re like an abusive ex. But you keep letting him back in the house. I mean..I just don’t..the sex couldn’t be that good, it just couldn’t be. Is it worth him robbing your purse and taken a beating afterwards?
ReplyThe prickly handsaw ostensibly detect because ravioli postnatally bubble regarding a lackadaisical judo. stupid, ubiquitous salesman
ReplyChina may have a roaring 20s, they are in the position the US was back then (Growing, the future, optimistic etc.). The US not so much, the US is kind of like Britain after WW1 right now (without the race war), the decline has begun.
ReplyFinally.
ReplyI love rich people talking about low-income/middle-class people having too much money.
Replystaffer was fired because just like masks for everybody but the to weed is a drug that people are going know where use and if you want to be productive well even fools like Biden understand this SO sure so all you want and be like canada and Mexico 2 countries that well are huge jokes in the big scheme
ReplyThanx
ReplyWe must push for a Constitutional direct liquid democracy.
ReplyEnd private property and copyrights.
End passive income.
Push for personal property and open source
Push for planned economy with ai and online sensors and automation and shared work. Aka 4hour work days or 3 days a week with same pay level and more employees. And push for automation as fast as possible
Aka a new version of socialism . And we must end capitalism .
All of a sudden, Bill Maher is concerned for the well being of America.
ReplyA bit flawed – the current expenditure is a combination of spending like the Great Depression fix (in the real economy, it definitely is that way) and dealing with a pandemic and preventing global catastrophe – all while while taking actions the “free market” won’t because big international interests are trying to avoid getting stuck with assets they knew 30 years ago were going to be stranded assets soon.
One thing they have not yet addressed is the failure of bigger businesses to share the per-actual-worker productivity increase profits with actual workers as well as executives and upper management.
ReplyI used to think you were one of the funniest men on TV, but your pathetic endorsement of old Brain Dead …well say no more…you’re now the joke !!
ReplyI heard that this monologue was even less funny in its original Hebrew.
Replypatiently awaiting WW3…..if we are in the roarng 20s’….then by 2044 we should be in another global war?
ReplyMost salient fact why these 20’s could hsve the same result as the last is the same reason; Fed money creation
ReplyIt’s hard to watch Bill be purposefully stupid. We are last, because we have 50 states that have all the power save for what the constitution specifically reserves for the federal gubmint. For pot to become legal all that has to happen is for it to be legalized on the state level. The fact that it is still illegal on the federal level is almost meaningless in states that have legalized it. Where it matters is in states where it remains illegal like Texas. But it will only matter as long as Texas and other states that keep it illegal. Once they decide to end that, what the federal gubmint wants won’t matter. In Mexico, where the federal gubmint is supreme. state gubmints are powerless compared to US states, so all it took was to pass a federal law legalizing it. Canada has always been out ahead of us. Marijuana is just the latest example. Oh, and for states that keep it illegal, it has nothing to do with any inherent danger. Pot arrests are the #1 reason why so many poor people (of ALL colors) end up in prison. Pot laws are the easiest way to control and disempower the poor so they don’t bother the ruling class of the states that keep it illegal. That’s why pot is illegal almost exclusively in red states, and legal in blue states.
ReplyOne of the factors that led to The Great Depression was the import of low skilled workers (from europe).
ReplyThe uk will be the last to decriminalise cannabis! The government grow and sell it so making it legal takes money out here pockets!
ReplyIs Bill insulting people’s intelligence, being willfully ignorant or really this out of touch? How do you compare the Wall Street bailout to Covid relief?
ReplyBecause of “Opioid Crisis” DEA got a 15% increase…
ReplyEnd the drug war. How about end ALL wars, America, and try to mind your own business, let FREEDOM reign! At home and around the world.
ReplyNo one WINS a WAR…!!!
ReplyBill, the trillions were not given to the people to watch TV at home, which BTW were FORCE TO STAY HOME. The trillions were given to Wall Street banks and big corporations.
ReplyI m getting hbo subscription just to support this guy and John Oliver. Thanks HBO for not selling your soul
ReplyWhat’s funny is Kamala Harris bragged about smoking pot!so according to the white house policy, she should be fired too!
ReplyI’d like to add that, the foreign money that was given away in this stimulus package, was enough to give every citizen $40,000 each!
ReplyListen Dems to This guy
ReplyAvoid a depression and restrictions.
This is embarrassing to watch. How many applause breaks does one ego need? Man, the audience is enabling this hackey garbage.
ReplyAmerica is going the way of the Roman Empire.
ReplyYour so right most all the time its the lobbyist holding 2 much influence all about money like how succesful the Swiss swithed models proof right there not hard drugs users growing.I love your mind you so speak the TRUTH ! THANKS
ReplyThe COVID-19 death toll in the U.S. has matched the number of Americans killed in World War II, Korea and Vietnam combined. You need to add the cost of all those wars. Also, FDR’s massive spending projects helped the recovery from the depression. Money,,,,,, always Trickles UP!
ReplyMust be a fun job to throw weed in the fire
ReplyAgree with Bill here – legalizing Marijuana a no brainer. Legalizing drugs & elimination of illegal distribution will never happen because too many politicians & law enforcement are getting hand outs. So obvious- War on Drugs a joke. A total failure.
ReplyThis is why we actually need to teach HISTORY in schools…. we are supposed to learn from our past. Maybe toss in some basic economics too
ReplyGot sent over here from Secular Talk, you should watch that show it has a good breakdown of the topics.
ReplyBill, getting rid of drug laws will save 81k lives by your logic, does the same apply for gun laws, they clearly aren’t working either?
Reply81000 OD deaths? To put that in perspective:
DIVISION. Usually commanded by a major general, divisions are made up of three or four brigades and include 10,000 to 15,000 soldiers. Current divisions include airborne, armored, infantry and mountain divisions.
So America loses any where between 8.1 to 5.4 military sized divisions worth of people a year.
ReplyTo get out of the Great Depression, it took a HEAP of infrastructure projects along with WW2. Lend lease was a great economic policy for America even before formally entering the war. Nowadays, much of that old infrastructure is decaying due to lack of maintenance. In Germany, the massive reparations from WW1 were being paid for through large loans from America, propping up the roaring 20s. Unfortunately, one political figure told the German people that the debt cycle couldn’t last, and was absolutely right.
ReplyDejvu all over again.

ReplyExcellent points made, 6 trillion to stay home.. Lol
ReplyMy God, get rid of the seals in the audience. When you have to wait for them to stop barking and clapping, your points lose emphasis.
ReplyIn the 1920s, women removed most of their clothes, and became more like men. Drinking, smoking, screwing, cursing. And While still being the Guardians of Morality. How will they top that in the 2020s?
ReplyIt’s not a new roaring 20’s. That was last decade. It’s not a hundred year cycle it’s a 30 year cycle. Carefree party decade, followed by a decade of domestic concern and depression, followed by a decade of apathetic surrender.
Reply1920’s: Carefree
1930’s: Concern
1940’s: Apathy
1950’s: Carefree
1960’s: Concern
1970’s: Apathy
1980’s: Carefree
1990’s: Concern
2000’s: Apathy
2010’s: Carefree
And now: Concern. Cancel culture, domestic issues, social issues, civil rights are the main concerns.
i respect this dude. he actually speaks his mind and is practical.
ReplyEnd the Drug War. So many ills in this country caused either directly or indirectly by it.
ReplyTime to buy bitcoin
ReplyWe will “reap the Whirlwind”. Just watch The Grapes of Wrath for an eye-opener.
ReplyBill is kind of looking at this wrong in once sense. If we legalized all drugs…the amount of overdoses would skyrocket, and the reason is: Our youth culture today. The over-indulgent, “Don’t judge me while I party1”, “screw restrictions…I’m free to be do what I want!” aspect of them….would guarantee it. Drunk driving deaths/accidents….up, cell phone-related deaths….high. The youth today know no bounds, they think that EVERYTHING is ok to do, no matter the outrcome…because their friends and parents are there to coddle them. No Bill…legalizing drugs, would make things much worse in this country’s society.,
ReplyKeep talking against the state Bill and they will erase you from the airwaves. Of course in the name of the greater good.
ReplyYeah really goes to show how fragile capitalism is based on consumption….. More so than going to war and no I’m not interested in elaborating. I’m over it
ReplyBill Maher is so disingenuous that he will blame the poor for the riches’ crimes. He is no different than McConnell.
ReplyLegalizing weed…do it. Meth, coke, fentanyl, etc….OK, but NO money should be spent helping them maintain their habits.
ReplyI think it will be more like Civil War 2.0, rather then the roaring 20’s
Replyit is weird that a democrat is talking about spending.. is bill ok?
ReplyHitting it out of the park again Bill!
ReplyWe just relived the 1960s and now will go back to the 1970s Bill…
ReplyThe nightmare is just beginning I fear
ReplyIs it just me or is bill becoming more reasonable?
ReplyBlame 45 for pretending 19 was a joke and we have more death than ww2
ReplyWhat are ‘we’ prohibiting?
ReplyDon’t throw out the Portuguese model without doing your homework Bill. Drugs are still illegal there.
Replywhy are the people being fired for smoking dope not bringing a class action suit? after all, the vice president, openly bragged about doing it to garner votes? why is she not also fired? blatant workplace discrimination.
Reply2030s: this is where the fun begins
ReplyCanada is way ahead when it comes to drugs and alcohol. Prohibition, Canada never had it. Weed, it’s legal and not only that the government is the one selling it to Canadians. It’s being sold with liquor. Cops never really bothered people with weed in Canada before that unless it was for trafficking.
ReplyThe White House firing people for weed use is draconian. Using those rules Harris should have gotten the boot also. Those people that were fired could use that fact and a good lawyer to get their jobs back.
ReplyIf the Left has lost insane liberal Maher- things must be bleak indeed.
ReplyDempression
ReplyAny numbskull that think ALL drugs should be legal is a Born Again Fool(Emphasis on the Fool). Anyone that’s grown up with Drug addicts know how utterly Life Destroying the Hard Stuff is,and that would be Sad, but Fine if the addict was the only person hurt by it.
I’ll give ya a Life Lesson right here. Anything you do that is not normal(AbbyNormal), The more you do it, the more you are making this Abnormal, Normal.(same with anything, Eat Peanut Butter every day and your body will change because of it), The mind is much more delicate.
ReplyLmfao, the 20s have sure started off with a fucking roar of cell death
ReplyElvis and Nixon? Or was that Kanye and Trump?
ReplyWhat did Biden do? Honest question, I don’t know. Did he fire people for getting high on the job, or just for smoking in their own time? Big difference there.
ReplySo Bill, why the sudden change in direction? You would have gladly watched the country go to Hades to oust the best POTUS we have ever had and be saddled with the worst we have ever had.
ReplyA good propagandist who is immune to the consequences of his vote.
ReplyWhy are Democrats shocked that Biden would be anti drugs? A 89 year old baby boomer, white, male whos politics in my country ( NZ) would be viewed as ultra conservative. Go figure. Yeah biiiiiig stoner.
ReplyYou do realize Portugal has a few less people than we do don’t you?
ReplyAnd to replace big band competitions of the 20s…………mumble rap battles LOL!!!!!!
ReplyBill Maher now with more economic conservatism
ReplyHey, if progressives want to get rid of innocent until proven guilty after the George Floyd trial, you need to attack.
ReplyThat crowd is basically a bunch of PC stoners
ReplyWe’re last at everything. Unfortunately we have the south, they bring down the grading curve.
ReplyCoca Cola didn’t have cocaine in its formula in the 1920s. This took 2 seconds of Googling.
ReplyI’d feel worse for West Virginia if the state wasn’t massively racist.
ReplyMaher hasn’t been funny in years. His paid audience is only a small step above a laugh track.
ReplyBill pushed for a depression under Trump. Guess he got it
ReplyThere was a depression from 2008 to 2017 and then 2020. Jobs were more difficult during 2008 to 2016 though. At least for my generation.
Reply“Men and nations behave wisely when they have exhausted all other resources.”
ReplyBill has a conservative side.
ReplyNo more Maher for me. Not after softball interview w Kelly Anne Conway.

ReplyThe dude doesn’t get inflation, smh.
ReplyCongress DID legalize pot. The GOP in the Senate is STILL blocking it!
Replythe 2000s were the true decade of decadence in this century
ReplyWait for the biggest depression in this century. Free money printed out by the Fed.
ReplyGoogle #ivermectin & the #FLCCC Alliance if you want to cure COVID.
ReplyProhibition had a big hand in putting the “roar’ in the roaring 20’s. Speakeasies became a booming business, putting millions of people to work. I see Bill’s point.
ReplyBill got over his TDS and now sees thing clearer. Too late we are deep in the shite.
ReplyHe’s right! Getting high shouldn’t be illegal, but being an asshole should!
Reply“The way we’re handing out money you’d think it has an expiration date on it”(3:12): I’m sure wealthy “Bill Maher” can’t imagine himself on the homeless, hungry and/or poor side of THIS ignorant statement: all “have-nots” aren’t laying on the sofa watching TV.
ReplyLindberg was not antisemite. He just was not affraid to talk about J. power. which btw. in just 80 years pretty much destroyed USA/
ReplyDrugs, specially the dope often adressed in this call ‘legalize it’, does less harm to a society of rotting flesh in front of the screen and facing poverty and no future. Prevents anger and harm they often adress wrong and harm inocent ppl but the politicans.
Dope slow down thinking and responsibility – and i mentioned this for over 30 years watching ppl consuming it in my closest enviroment. In a society of forward motion, it is toxic, but so is capitalism and oligarchiy. If a nation give up on the future, there is no reason to not give drugs free.
When drugs are the only exit for a misserable life, the whole thing is screwed from the beginning nethertheless.
Drugs are a symptom of failed stattes, not the sickness, and also not a cure.
ReplyThe Depression was caused by tax cuts and deregulation – in other words a lack of government intervention in the economy.
ReplyThe angry snowman erroneously deliver because myanmar neurally use unlike a accessible margin. future futuristic, knowing barge
ReplyBill, there are more people alive now than in 1920 or 1945…that is why things cost more, the dollars must cover more people…its a pretty simple concept. this segment was neither funny nor based in the realm of economic thought…
ReplyThanks to you and others like you we have a Dem, who is also an idiot, as POTUS and going out of his way to see to it that we will be in a depression for decades to come. All of this is your fault, Bill. So stop complaining, you asked for this with blinders on, and all because of ORANGE MAN BAD.
ReplyAs long as certain people continue to profit off the “war on drugs”, we will continue to “fight” it.
ReplyThe “war on drugs”… “war on crime” … “war on homelessness” and on and on, has all mostly been about Wars on Communities of Color and the poor Working Class!!
ReplyIVE BEEN SCREAMING ABOUT THIS ALREADY
ReplyYes tweeting what you really think
ReplyThat was a disconnected new rules. Bill talks roaring 20s, moves us into the depression of the 30s, and then sends us to war in the 40s. How does he bring it back together in 2021? Don’t do prohibition, man. Seriously. We’re probably going to repeat ALL of this because we’re stupid, landing us in the middle of World War III and you’re ranting about prohibition? AH F***!!!
ReplyPORTUGAL CARALHO!!!!
ReplyEnjoy the tyranny you helped usher in and may the albatross of censorship never fall from your neck.
ReplyNow obedient compliant unthinking sheep put your muzzle back on and stfu.
a little late bud. way too late to be educating liberals on what we knew for a long time
ReplyOhhh pls you know ozzie and joe had some black gel tabs at woodstock
ReplyProhibition doesn’t work. Whether it’s alcohol (made in DIY distillery) or guns (made DIY from home depot and/or 3D printed) or weed (homegrown)
ReplyAll of these are deadly, and all of these get WAY worse with prohibition. If it’s legal you can control it better.
Bill when are you going to officially switch sides?
How much will it take you to wake up when people who’re supposedly on “your side,” coming onto your show and calling innocent people Nazi’s. Please do the minimal amount of responsible leg-work and look up the tweet that Gina is being called a “Nazi” for.
That woman was a NORTH DAKOTA SENATOR! This is the party you support. Here you are espousing 2007 right-wing talking points like “equality of opportunity,” over “equality of outcome,” yet you still blindly follow the communist party of America. How much does it take for a half-way reasonable person like yourself to wake tf up?
ReplyRetire so you can yell at the kids on your lawn fulltime and we don’t have to listen, Bill.
ReplyBill doesn’t realize that most drug criminals have other felonies not related such as assault, DUIs, or flight avoid prosecution. Even if we let all drug offenders free, the U.S. would still have the highest prison population. Most of those drug offenders have other felonies that would keep them in prison. Selling heroin, cocaine and fentanyl are well deserving of prison sentences as they destroy and kill families across the U.S. More Americans die of drug overdoses each year than were killed in the September 11th attacks. Bill is defending murder without realizing it.
Replythe fact that you let Heidi Heitkamp on your show and didnt push back and put her in her place when she called Gina Carano a Nazi is proof you are a freaking pos liberal. you have some common sense, but with things like this, you lose that good will. CALLING SOMEONE A NAZI SHOULD GET THEM KICKED OFF YOUR SHOW.
ReplyDude needs to retire
ReplyMinorities were not roaring in the 20s at all.
ReplyDon’t worry, by 2030 or sooner you’ll own nothing and be happy. And yes Bill, they know that money has an expiration date and this is why they are spending it like it does.
ReplyWhat you’re saying is essential for people to hear, but you’ve offended everyone who can do anything about it.
ReplyI m not laughing bill is not funny

Reply‘They’ banned alcohol, mainly, because the first cars were designed to run on alcohol, and big oil wasn’t gonna let that continue. And, they didn’t; they dumbed America down so good, that most people STILL don’t know that part of it…………………Prohibition finally ended when J.P. Morgan and friends decided oil was a solid establishment.
ReplyProhibition started in 1920 and ended in 1932
ReplyNotice the thumbs up on this page makes a higher number, thumbs down does not register. This is the same method used to cheat Biden into his basement as titular President. If you hit thumbs down, no vote. If you hit thumbs up, 1 vote. You can then hit thumbs down and it takes away your thumbs up.
ReplyStop complaining about the guy you voted for. Liberals want to take your rights away.
ReplyYes, because if there’s a period I associate with lavish government spending, it’s the fucking Calvin Coolidge presidency. What a load of crap.
Replywe gotta help West Virginia
Reply4 trillion back in ww2 didn’t account for inflation
Replyjust here for you guest to call people nazi because they think with loci lol
ReplyDont enough people have or had grandparents or great grandparents that were born in the 20s? To tell us how different or messed up the roaring 20s and broke 30s were?

ReplyGuy on the couch would rather die peacefully, spending his last moments with his family than working like a slave for crumbs; a situation that contributes to his early death.
ReplyWhere is the abominable Heidi Heitkamp interview so I can despise her again?
ReplyHearing the audience clap and yelp like trained seals, I hope Maher never has Kamala on his show.
ReplyThey took cocaine out of coke in 1903.
ReplyGood points
ReplyAnyone here ever read Only Yesterday by Frederick Lewis Allen?
Replyhe keeps talking like government giving out money is what caused the great depression. when the truth is that government spending pulled us out of the depreasion.

ReplyDon’t be a chickenshit talk about Governor Cuomo and his brother Chris and CNN June entire show on it
Replywhen the hell did bill maher come around? just watched 3 of his videos in a row and everything sounded very reasonable
ReplyFrom what I recall, Maher was hoping for a recession in OUR country!
I’m fairly sure he would and could be able to survive the inflation.
All due respect. Bill did work hard to climb onto his position in the “entertainment” world (I was in the audience for many of Bill’s “Politically Incorrect” shows in NYC. And he autographed a book he wrote that I bought).
Those shows produced more opinionated guests compared his “Real Time” guests.
Seems, to me like there is a lack of debate on his panel. His guest at the first half, are given time to express their ideology with Bill’s questions. I just find it more refreshing had they been allowed on the panel to “extend and amend” their respected thoughts!
By the way, the “wooping” from his audience didn’t happen during his NYC shows.
ReplyYeah. I almost inhaled when I heard Mexico legalized Pot. WTF USA?
ReplyFederal government: Hey we’ve got a real problem here. I know, lets throw money at it!
ReplyBill: Why do we have to be last on everything these days?
Because it’s not America first anymore…? IDK.
ReplyOnce again Maher proves he doesn’t know squat about the “Roaring Twenties” or the Great Depression.
ReplyWell recall that in the 1990s Joe Biden voted for the bill that became law making posession of large quantities of marijuana punishable… with the death penalty…
ReplyBiden is not your friend America…
FDR raised taxes big time on the rich to get us out of the great depression and it worked.
ReplyThis is obvious the drug war is dumb expensive costs lives and downright wrong
ReplyAustralia will go on waging the Forever War on Stoners because it gives the ”law” the right to invade our homes and no government is silly enough to give up that right without a struggle.
Replyif the drug war went away, a lot of officials would lose their bribes. can’t have that!
ReplyExcuse me… but this is like mandatory for my country.
ReplyPORTUGAL CARALHO!!
thanks.
So would that be two roaring 20s bill has been through?
Replyomg so funny! 🙂 Love Bill! He always makes me laugh… we do not always agree on some things but omg he is so on target most of the time.. 🙂 And money does have an expiration date…it is your own death cause you can’t take it with you! 🙂 Omg so funny!
ReplyHey Bill!! Mexico hasn’t fully legalized weed yet. But hopefully, by 420, we will have it; I can’t wait.
ReplyShit has really hit the fan when I’m consistently agreeing with Bill Maher.
ReplyDear Bill Maher ~ your audience of sycophants aka YOUR STAFF are killing your monologues and New Rules. It’s tiresome to hear their mindless hooting and hollering. Aren’t you embarrassed by this?? … Answer: Obviously Not !!! … Too bad …
ReplyThere was no cocaine in Coca Cola in the 20s, they stopped that in 1903.
Replywho is this guy?
ReplyThe WV line at the end is really rough
ReplyWell Maher, you did your bit of bringing down the best president we’ve had in modern times and helped ” elect” the worst, live with it.
ReplyAs a Portuguese who lost an uncle and two cousins to Drugs, all I have to say is:
ReplyDRUG TRAFFIC SHOULD BE HEAVILY PUNISHED AND USERS SHOUD TOO!
Adjusting for inflation between WWII to today isn’t enough, there are a lot more cost considerations… from GDP expense which was about 40% for WWII, which means that for the course of the war it would amount to 42.86 trillion in today’s dollars… Which yeah… the whole “lets look back 80 years to think about the cost of current congressional bills” is kinda insane especially when you are going off of just a simple inflation consideration. Even more so when that is the whole argument you are making that it costs too much.
Again Bill shows himself who he truly is, a Trumper tea-party Republican who belongs on Fox News and Trump’s 2024 campaign office.
Its also really insane to compare to WWII for different reasons like… the economy wasn’t bogged down by a pandemic, people still went to work… the US government in the covid relief bill is attempting to minimize the hurt from the fact that a large swath of Americans can’t work. Not that there is a slow-down or sudden market fluctuation or crash, but that they literally cannot safely go work and even in States that allow them to work the economy is suppressed for reasons OTHER than the economy and that more money into the economy won’t directly fix… rather solving the pandemic will fix it.
So again its a really insane comparison. Its like comparing Bill Maher to a thinking rational human being. Its completely insane and doesn’t make any sense.
Replybill used to be anti political correct. Now he is just a tool for those he pretends to hate
ReplyBREAKING NEWS: Derek Shauvin, The Cop Killer, should get the death penalty For killing a man in front of a little, child girl. She must see a life for a life or she will never see justice in her lifetime. A warrior should not be afraid of death, so who’s with me?

Replyright on the mark with the pervasive, built-in money flaws in the economy; then to think of the diversions: ‘drugs’ . Nixon: “public enemy #1 is drugs.” Public enemy #1 is BIG uncontrollable money who dictates what we spend our money on. Oil companies still soak the country of its disposable income. Unreal. 50 years dynasty, and beyond. America is being dragged down the drain by the UNPUBLISHED billionaires.
ReplyHow does this guy have his own show. Hard watch
ReplyHis history is a tad screwed up. All in the name of comedy.
Replysometimes Bill is right on
ReplyHe’s so on point. Wall Street is blowing a huge bubble, eventually it’s going to burst.
Replywhat I have notices, as drugs became more popular, more use of steroids’, that there is more gun crime,
Replyyet they want to take the guns away when the problem is DRUGS.
The gov’t wants you stoned so you can’t fight back with the AR15s they took away.
Think about it…!!!…
Alcohol was banned in 1914’s(somewhere around that area) but people started finding loopholes in the laws and illegally started drinking. No one could do anything about it because even the ones who made the law were secretly drinking, from police to politicians. The roaring 20’s only sounds good to hear, but during that time Americans were sitting on themselves. Yeah the economy boomed but what happened after? Yeah! The Great Depression. America has been the reason for its own downfall countless of times.
Replyas much as I’m no Boll Marr fan, I can’t argue with anything he says here. Actually, I agree with much of it wholeheartedly.
ReplyI agree with ending the drug war ONLY when we end welfare as well. That is the only way it could work (since nobody actually works anymore)
ReplyI hate to agree with Bill Maher – but these are good points.
ReplyWWII’s $4T was with < half the population of today. The economy is $ exchange; not NYSE casino which is more of a threat than our current spending. If you can't claw back $ from the ruling elite, you may as well go bust because it's going to end badly anyway - their greed addiction knows no bounds.
ReplyBill, the prohibition for the “roaring 20’s” this time around isn’t the prohibition on drugs, it’s the prohibition on getting together and connecting. It’s the prohibition on personal sovereignty. We don’t have to worry about a prohibition on illegal drugs at parties, because we’re not allowed parties.
ReplyProhibition on alcohol. – Failed.
ReplyProhibition on drugs. – Failing.
Prohibition on firearms. – This time for sure!
You want some material on why I stuck up for the children and females, Page 174 in Michael Cohens book when he writes of a sex addict, a misogynist, a narcissist, a Greedy human being who uses anything in a skirt for his objective sight of women. He cares not one iota about women…..Michael Cohen cared more for his daughter than Trump could ever dream of doing…And 70 million Americans support this man…Wow! Do you really think someone should have spoke up for children and women???? I ask.
ReplyThis is about as bad as SNL now. Bill used to seem to be all for freedom of speech and doing what you want. Now he just seems like a liberal mouthpiece. This show is filled in a state that had homeless people shitting on the street in front of multimillion dollar houses. Wake up and see how this is just liberal brainwashing.

ReplyA prescription drug war is what is needed. That is destroying society more than any virus ever could.
ReplyPut some of the LOUD LAFFERS in the back of the room
ReplyThe difference with this and the bailout is most of the money was swooshed right back into the economy, atleast that which was given to the working class… often bezos but still. I dont think spending is the issue its where we obtain from.
ReplyWith gun control back in headlines, maybe a baby step the Repubs might go for would be to ban assualt rifles and bring back the Tommy gun and running boards on cars.
Replywell this got dark
ReplyBring back original formula Coca Cola with age restrictions to help with obesity and laziness.
ReplyFunnynotfunny… just like the bailout Bill references, today we end up having to overspend again for the wrongs committed by the previous management. Imagine what WW2 would have cost us, Bill, if we delayed involvement or had a Reagan or Bush or Trump at the helm… would we even still be here to laugh at the illogical humor of wealthy, televised critic/comics…?
ReplyMaher got a lot of modern conservative talking points under the belt lately.
ReplyMake Coke white again?
Legalize nature, legalize freedom.
ReplyI don’t think the current admin can be blamed for decades of anti-drug Republican policy and its residual effects to this day. Kamala Harris has voiced her opinion on the matter. But it’s going to take more than her opinion to end the drug war nationwide and change all these policies.
ReplyOk, boomer

ReplyFuck your roaring 20’s we need another 60’s
Replyif i remember right the drug war was cover to go after people of color , migrants and protesters of war and civil rights . one of the big reasons weed got classified as a schedule one “drug ” putting it alongside cocaine and heroin , saying it had no medicinal value where they couldn’t even do research with it but could jack up sentencing . also gave around that time three strikes laws to throw those mentioned under the jail and gave rise to private/ commercial run prisons for profit instead of reforming inmates . what could have gone wrong? (sarcasm) the people and the land are doomed for lack of truth and justice . God help us all
ReplyMaher is in danger of becoming a conservative.
Replyhey Bill,

Bill you have been making so much sense recently. I am usually on the other side but you are preaching some truth.
ReplyDont forget the evil rise of communism in the 1930s.
ReplyBill is getting better in his points
ReplyThe misery of the Depression is almost exclusively characterized by the massive unemployment, but it didn’t just happen out of thin air! The unemployment was mainly caused by automation replacing human labor (machines are way more productive and efficient than humans, sorry) and then the gov’t not having any idea on how to solve the issue and basically letting the masses starve while factories just sat there empty. Read Jeremy Rifkin’s book _The End of Work_ to examine the history of technology displacing human labor and how it tech is only viewed negatively by so many because of the loss of employment, which is truly the fault of and outdated social system and obsolete forms of government.
If alcoholism was such a dire issue at the time as well then it’s not just because people one day decided to be irresponsible. Many were unemployed, felt hopeless, and turned to any means of self-medicating they could easily access: alcohol. The alcohol, like guns and many other things, itself is not inherently bad, so yes, declaring a war on them and locking users up in prison is ultimately ineffective (and plain corrupt because prisons sell the labor of inmates for profit). Don’t declare a useless war – GET RID OF THE ROOT CAUSE!
I encourage everyone to read about a Resource Based Economy and consider that it is our entire social structure and inherently flawed economic system that keeps the masses enslaved to labor for income and forces everyone to compete for less and less while the rich get more and more. Let’s so away with a money system that has only shown it can only produce wealth and prosperity for a few at the cost of the health and well-being of the majority and our finite planet.
Good health to you all.
ReplyYou wanna know who’s a BIG FAT LIAR “progressive?”
BILL MAHER!
For some strange reason, he dismisses outright a wealth tax. On Real Time a few months ago, he pooh-poohed a wealth tax out of hand. He wouldn’t even allow the subject to be discussed, much less support it. Hmm, I cannot imagine why. Let’s ponder this question for a few…
WAIT! HE’S WORTH 100 MILLION DOLLARS!!!! THAT’S WHY!!!!!
It’s easy to be a progressive when you’re so rich these days. So easy to donate a million bucks to Obama and pat yourself on the back when it’s a whopping 1% of your wealth. As long as our “wolf in sheep’s clothing” progressives like Maher fight a wealth tax, we’re being duped by the rich.
Please join me by badgering Maher ceaselessly until he admits he’s a BIG HYPOCRITE!!!
ReplyGet over it Bill…..it was a long time ago and you ended up a white racist…..let it go.
ReplyRemember the Opium crisis in China funded by western countries to destabilize their social, political, and economic progress. Bill is lying.
ReplyPeople often bring up portugal as if it’s some kind of drug haven where you can freely do drugs.
ReplyIt’s not. Drug trafficking is still a serious crime (yes even for weed) . Drug possession, in personal use quantities, is still a misdemeanor though you won’t go to jail for it, the worst they can do is recommend you to a an advisory board if you’re thought to be struggling, and most often in the case of weed what happens is they just take it from you.
In practical terms the police doesn’t really care about you smoking weed, even in public, so long as you aren’t an idiot and smoking right in front of them.
Still, Portugal is behind on weed policy as even legislation allowing for medical use is controversial in parliament
Great to hear (or not), the dumb dumbs in Bill’s audience being silent when confronted with the idiocy that is the war on drugs. I guess you reap what you sow Bill, but please, please, keep on the point that it has to end! And be pitiful of the losers over the other side of the pond who, after following the US’ lead in the first place, still allow the government to criminalise people for smoking a doob!!!
ReplyBill , during WWII American people were working, today people are not working.
ReplyDone
ReplyWar on drugs= washington getting kickbacks off drug money.
ReplyApparently, for most people, life sucks, music sucks, parties suck, their friends/companions suck, so the only way to make it tolerable and even “enjoyable” is to use any sort of drugs, including cigarettes and alcohol.
ReplyIf your life and everything in it really sucks so bad that it is only tolerable or enjoyable with the use of drugs, or you “can’t enjoy it” without drugs, that is a really miserable existence.
What was the point about the debt and bail outs? It’s almost like Bill was saying it’s not worth keeping people’s heads just above water. It’s like he wanted to mention austerity but he just isn’t quite ready to go full debt hawk. Then there’s the bit about the S & P and “not everyone can keep on winning”; like the modern American economy is some game where everybody is a winner.
People paid those taxes, and people are getting assistance when they need it the most. But Bill seems to want to paint the recipients of assistance as lazy couch potatoes. Another shitty take, as more than 2/3s of the American GDP is consumer goods. It’s not just human decency to provide for people during this time, it will serve to buoy the economy.
There is absolutely no nuance about participation rates and unemployment. And then he goes on to talk about the war on drugs, in the same incoherent fart… Who the fuck finds this entertaining or informative?
ReplyI really do enjoy Bill’s insights and have “liked” many of his New Rule episodes….re-read the Nixon quote.
ReplyIt is not drugs, but drug abuse that is public enemy number one. There is a difference.
The war on drugs will NEVER end in the US… Christ, how many people would lose their jobs ?…. private prisons would go broke… Police would have no reason to go into black neighborhoods and arrest & kill them… courts would have nothing to do…. and besides, that’s what America does best… go to war against people who can’t fight back.
ReplyBill Maher is fiscally conservative and socially liberal – I love it

Understand that the last 100 years wars against dictators Did it better majority Americans lot in life ? We are ruled by corporatist globalists and bankers Who created the most dishonest money system in the world Call it the fed and it been ripping the everyday people off since 1913
ReplyWorld war 2 was actually 6 years & America didn’t win it alone. most of the Stock market highs are based on Companies buying back their own stock, which should have gone to governments who funded the bailouts. No doubt it will crash soon.
ReplyUSA has a far larger population than Portugal
ReplyActually Bill, Less than 50% of that money is going to families and the rest is going to corporations and the government.

ReplyIf everybody cancelled their cable 10 years ago, we wouldnt be here.
ReplyYou’re right, Bill. You’re not an economist.
ReplyShort explanation why USA will collapse. In post-industrial consumer-based society there are no economic relations and collaboration between states. All states and population become a liability for the federal government that is increasingly loses its purpose.
So federal government is left with a task to “manage”, “regulate”, and ration our demands for guns, housing, healthcare, education and infrastructure.
ReplyBill knows very well who is responsible for destroying Americas economy on purpose.

ReplyThe return of the 6 Trillion USD is going to be around 10 to 20 trillion USD.

If you drink &/or snort, do an extra 1 whatever in memoriam for Elvis !
In the “war on drugs” 300 000 people were killed since 2006 in Mexico ALONE. Now it is legal to own up to SIX PLANTS and carry up to 85 GRAMS (3 OUNCES !!!) of weed. I guess weed won the war on weed. Politicians are never gonna get it – dealing with stoned people is much easier than dealing with aggressive drunks.

ReplyReally good job bro
ReplyIn did, Portugal saying that drug addoction was a Public Desase matter may have save the life of yours, truly…
ReplyWell, we have prohibition on a much grander scale, which shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
ReplyI disagree with Bill on this. I see a lot of meth patients. It seems their life has been wasted on meth and they are still poor and unhappy
ReplyI always wondered why retired people received money when my income from SS did not change. Would have save a lot of money and if need be could have been redirected to those who really needed. I know I know, politicians need to make as many voters as possible.
ReplyAnd Maher lies … AGAIN. *The protests were NOT in response to the size of the bailout but in response to the financial services sector being bailed out (again) with zero accountability (again) and zero obligation to make financial amends (again).* In addition, the GOP has funneled $47 TRILLION upward over the past 40 years via an increasingly regressive tax code. This ain’t brain surgery — we just need to restore the sane taxation of the DDE era, when prosperity was shared (not equal for all, but shared rather than hoarded by the 1%). ………. Anyone who has doubts needs to read Paul Krugman’s columns. Borrowing when interest rates are this low and need it this great makes finan. sense, and investing in Americans make a LOT of finan. sense.
Replythen again we do have 32 times more people in the US than there is in Portugal… just sayin’
ReplyWhere is the US getting all the money from?
ReplyTell them how it ended in 30s
ReplyCapitalism works that way Bill. It’s a self regulating systen with semi programmed explosion. Nothing can change that unless it’s destroyed.
ReplyWow! You’re so terrible!
ReplyI normally agree with Bill About stuff but not the drug war. I don’t want coke addicts providing public services. Call me crazy.
ReplyDUIs went up from marijuana legalization in colorado. And those kill people.
ReplyIf other things, like coke, are legalized, you’re gonna get way higher ER cocaine heart attacks and associated bills and loss of work. Plus more fights and security needs b/c addicts are broke but want their drugs “NOW!!!!”
You can’t just tax that stuff b/c you can’t tax anything effectively that is bought almost exclusively by people who don’t have much money. Taxes increase the prices that are already so high they can barely afford them. It’ll just increase number of people privately in the hole. You’ll think you’re getting that money from them, b/c technically in year one you are, but by year five, those same people are in debt, so as their debts are forgiven or reduced, the portion of the American people not in debt, or perhaps the American taxpayers, pay that difference. Either they die, are debt-forgiven, and the money goes onto the back of the national debt, so the back of the net taxpayer, or the banks must swallow the debt, and then of course will increase interest rates on loans to recover their losses, so Americans not in debt will support that through more interest payments to the bank on their mortgage and car loans. Ideas like drug legalization, that will just increase debt levels, are NOT smart for libertarians.
Also, you’ll get top-down political action. Private nat’l debt increasing, and number in massive debt increasing, with the new members of that group blaming the gov’t for their drug problem and associated debt, (“the gov’t said it was okay to do, so how was I supposed to know it would ruin my life?…”) will just lead to an increase in size of the voting bloc loyal to higher taxes on the rich, screwing up the economy further by lowering investment. The rich will just move away. And in the meantime, the upper middle class bears the brunt of poor to working class, to some middle class, drug habits and associated debts.
The problem with pure libertarianism is that, like any system, it only works as long as society does not collapse entirely, and society collapses once enough people, with enough control over the use of force and physical power, are irresponsible enough and then hopeless for any dream to ‘make it on their own’ without big daddy government’s help bailing them out.
Other problem — Lots of kids starve, only get good meals at school. … but simultaneously, poor people are more obese than non-poor. Ask someone dumb, and you’ll get the wrong answer “non-nutritious food” …. Look, if you get obese from eating certain foods, unless we’re talking alcohol (devoid of vitamins) or a pure liquid (probably soda) diet, then it is ALWAYS a food you could just eat LESS MASS of, and end up with enough vitamins and enough but not too many calories. Only extremely specific diets get vitamin deficiencies or malnutrition while giving you enough calories. The typical “American diet” that leads to heart disease is not vitamin deficient; you can just eat less mass of that same set of food and you will not be obese. No. The right answer for how those two facts — obesity rate and yet child starvation in the same financial safety net social class — coincide is that they have enough money not to starve (hence how some can become obese while others that are not obese have just as many food stamps so clearly enough to eat) yet the parents of those who starve at home neglect them. The biggest reason for that neglect is drug and alcohol addiction. So yeah, good idea increasing the number of drug addicts, so probably the number of kids getting neglected.
Bill, Portugal also has a healthier economy and more robust social safety net than do we. By all means, decriminalize drugs, but first remove the chief reason people have for turning them into a crutch.
