The selfishness is that people still think trying to terraform the mountains and deserts in CA, NV, UT is a sane use of a limited resource.
ReplyDesalination won’t provide enough water to refill all of the reservoirs and water the farms, and woods out west. But, pipelines would. There is a large Mississippi River that could have a giant lock built across it, and not even to raise and lower boats. It is 1800’s technology. All of that fresh water could be used in the midwest and southwest.
Other pipelines could be built along the river too. Because we now have weather forecasting, we could pre-drain the river down to a lower level to allow it to handle more water instead of flooding as much.
Some money could be paid to ensure that the water is a lot cleaner and pollution regulations are enforced too.
ReplyIsn’t capitalism great…
ReplyWhere the fuck is the bill from that cartoon when I was a kid singing getting shit done, is this telling me i need to go help him get shit done in his state?
ReplyAlso maybe consider not putting cities in a desert and expecting water.. Las Vegas, Phoenix. Los Angeles has only been able to support itself by routing water from hundreds of miles from the Sierra Nevada Owen River valley, thereby sucking that side of the mountains dry.
ReplyWhile global warming is certainly a problem as shown by these phenomenon, the hubris of making cities in the desert is finally costing something.
It doesn’t rain in Seattle anymore? Bill just said “it doesn’t rain on this side” I thought Seattle was like London. Always raining.
ReplyBill needs to talk to some scientists. This is dumb as hell
ReplyBig migration from West to east
ReplyCalifornia Liberals : ‘ We will use our massive voting influence to force our will on the rest of the country.
“We will shut down your oil pipelines
We will take away your second amendment rights
We will ignore your voice and have the courts dictate our will
We will boycott any state that does not adhere to our ideals”
Also Californians : “We built our cities on the edge of a desert and can’t figure out why it won’t rain” PLEASE build a massive 2,000 mile long pipeline and send us water”
The Eastern US : F*CK YOU
ReplyLaughing through dehydration up here in Washington State
ReplyThis clown is miserable.
ReplyBig government in bed with big business. It’s the government gifted to us by Lincoln after 600,000 American deaths, and it keeps on givin’.
ReplyThe obvious answer is invade Canada. They’ve got plenty of water.
ReplyGlobal cooling, became global warming, became climate change, to become ?
ReplyIronically, a lot of the oil and natural gas pipelines already have water mixed in with them, and it can cause big problems to their flow
ReplyDamn. Bill is fed up.
ReplyWhat about the Rocky Mountains? How much electricity how many pumps? How much would it cost? Would you have to build new power plants? Desalination uses a lot of electricity. What about environmental regulations? Israel also recycles most waste water to irrigate crops.
