Neil deGrasse Tyson Has Some Concerns Moving Forward

James Corden and Neil deGrasse Tyson reunite over a year after Neil was supposed to appear on the show before we all went into lockdown for COVID-19, a societal test he feels we largely failed. After discussing the importance of science literacy as it relates to our longevity as a species, Neil shares some of the takeaways from this experience we should hold on to when we go back to “normal.” And James asks Neil about the inspiration for his new book “Cosmic Queries.”

    Consider the following:
    a. Assume modern science is correct concerning the singular big bang and how the forces of nature came into existence.
    b. Probably ‘when’, not ‘if’, the forces of nature ‘evolve’ (since it was expansion of the singularity which brought about the current forces of nature and the universe is still expanding, with energy that could not be created nor destroyed would be getting less and less dense), what is going to occur to the entire universe and all in it?
    * BPC: Blink, Poof, Change: The entire universe changes in the blink of an eye but yet we retain our consciousness somehow, someway, somewhere, in some state of existence; OR and more probably:
    * BPG: Blink, Poof, Gone: The entire universe and all in it, including us and our consciousness, all disappear in the blink of an eye.
    * And possibly in the very next moment of our existence.

Talk about living on the edge of existence, wow! The entire universe and all in it could all disappear in the very next moment of our existence.

Science know co2 is the core of what we not need so why should green new deal even be considered, its like considering that methane is only thing humans need to breed. The reason pandemic was not handled well in USA and EU is because hard-core capitalism, greed of corporations and fight for holding on to modern colonialism were in the way. Literally, EVERY claim of some fake news had to do with one of the 3 factors.
Side note: while USA was hospitalizing only 1% of COVID patients (result of hard-core capitalism, i.e. no health insurance), other countries managed up to 30% which on average was/is the rate of COVID patients that are truly in need of hospitalization.

He’s a smart man. But he’s not right about everything. There are plenty of places in my city that are telling you to come in anyways, even if you’re a little sick. Stupid? Maybe. Still true. Also, I know they’re joking, but there have always been science deniers, from the beginning of time. Just like there has always been deniers of most any subject from the beginning of time. We’ve survived. So, the objective is to move forward without them. Taking away their stuff is only a dictatorship lol

“A mask is a badge of honor among those who are scientifically literate.” Absolutely.
My sisters live in Oregon and I live in Florida. Mask etiquette between the two states is baffling. In Oregon, you are considered extremely “uncool” if you aren’t wearing a mask in a public space and scowls are not afraid to show upon the upper half of everyone else’s faces (bc they’re all wearing masks). Even in the more rural areas where they don’t tend to wear masks as frequently, my sister has told me that people will notice her wearing a mask upon entry, and out of courtesy, they will put on a mask while she’s there.
On the other hand, I saw a couple without masks checking out at my local Publix here in Florida. After they left, the employee told me that they aren’t enforcing mask requirements in the stores to “minimize the amount of fist fights that occur within the store.”
I want to leave this state.

If you enjoy his knowledge and teaching style check out his Obi Wan Kenobi, his Predecessor, Cosmos’ Own Carl Sagan. The real problem? That is that most “scientists” shown by media are just puppets with a degree, acting for a even better wage to lie and not to tell what they really think. Most scientists and doctors who oppose the way that the gov wants us to confront it, lose their job and their “professor” title. Whenever the truth is told, is trying to be hidden, and those who opposed silenced.

They are lowering our immune system, from a big wave to which they want most of us to succumb. We must unite and fight the true enemy together. I believe he might refer to this but obviously he needs to keep it low profile. I am sad for humanity. Spread love and love only 🙂

Here’s the answer to James’ question: Humans will survive. Just not all of us. The longer we put off implementing sustainable policies, the bigger the catastrophe will be. If we are smart and do proper planning, we can transition to a sustainable economy and ecology over the next two generations, say 50 years, by 2070. But if we stick our heads in the sand and deny that there’s a problem and pretend that unbridled greed and energy waste and resource exploitation is OK, then we will take a big fall, and billions will perish over the course of a very few decades from pestilence, famine, war, and natural disaster.

The real problem is that there is no source of verified data that is freely available to the general public. Thus everyone’s opinion is valid until proven wrong, with freely available verified data. But competition and the rather expensive verified data is to blame on making science irrelevant.

As he said he has attended more conventions in the last year than he has in 15 years. The only way to achieve that is virtually. So the physical place has been replaced with virtual space. Very cool.
