To unify earth as a tribe of its own…to fight the other tribe of green aliens or microbial mats or inedible mirror monsters or whatever they are.

Tyson’s logic “did you know that more people died from the flue in 2001 than in the twin towers ?”

The problem is barometer of sexual abuse & harassment is very big. All women can’t be trusted, men & women lie all the time. MeToo movement is causing genuine cases to get shoved under the carpet.

I have to say as a long time NDT fan, I was disappointed by that response. Stephen asked him 3 times to tell everyone what he felt/learned from that life experience, and he offered pretty much the same publicist-written answer every time, especially highlighting his fans. From a man who I’m so used to seeing full of wonder and introspection at the universe and the human race, showing how minuscule yet complex our interactions with each other here on Earth are, that response rang of little personality, no self-reflection and no hint of nuance. In an era where all of us have to grapple with their past behaviours good or bad and learn from those who they may have hurt even unintentionally, I expected more from Neil.

“The Planetkiller”… As much as he thinks, Neil DeGrasse Tyson couldn’t hold Carl Sagan’s “blank-strap”…

@2:26, Stephen should follow up with “what do you mean ‘friends EVEN such as you”. That “even” seems like “damning with faint praise” or some such!

Realistically if aliens attacked us, they’d be able to wipe us out without ever having to come down to the planet to fight, they’d just shoot down some highly contagious and deadly biological agent made specifically to kill us and then just sit back and watch. So hoping if aliens do ever visit us, they’re peaceful explorers otherwise their advanced science and technology will kill us real quick
